Frustration is as suspenseful as the time allotted to it. It overstays. Woman in cryogenic state awakens from it with loss of oxygen, no memory, involuntary skills and a computer that accepts calls. Melanie Laurent was determined to grip our attention and she succeeded. The AI was sexily low key. The film needed to widen itself and have her deal with what was out there. It's too much of one thing. Two adventures would have killed it. The twists didn't curl because they were far-fetched. I would have taken the sedative offered 10 minutes in. 18-May-2021
His House (2020)
Sudanese refugees receive asylum in England to a house that appears too good to be true. The film exposes the culture's frailties and their strengths by unrolling the past during the celebration of the present. Something is wrong with the house, the husband and the wife. I felt the spit from the hate and I was genuinely spooked. The backstory is the magnet that keeps the house scares from falling apart. Some the of visuals meandered, separated from the backbone and made little sense but the writing kept it in check. The director is exploring, Sope Dirisu is grinding and the reach for excellence is pretty close. 03-Nov-2020
Boys In The Band, The (2020)
The original was about mean queens celebrating a birthday whilst eviscerating each other. The remake tones down the queen and ups the hostility and humiliation. This is a most difficult success story to digest. Jim Parsons gobbles it up like it's the last dick he's gonna suck, Charlie Carver gets to squirt but not emote, Matt Bomer exhibited his ass and it was riveting and Zachary Quinto wore an afro sheen wig. It all isn't nicety and rainbows in our community and it elaborates on it without resolving it. The black band member did not walk out when his friend uttered the "n" word towards him and he didn't walk out when he sang it to him a second time. Friends do not call each other that. It would be over. This is where you insert daddy Ryan's skewered politically correct irrationality and award a character some self-respect. It depicts the hellish parts of the gay community that is always shining in the dark and slams your head against the wall with it. 01-Oct-2020
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
There is a threshold of high mentality professionals cannot consume or understand so they isolate, daze and shun the unwell from reality thinking it will make them better but they're just keeping them away from us. The insane asylum is the "soccer mom" equation incorporated as rehabilitive juice. If you keep the child's mind busy life wont hurt it. Nurse Ratched is neither monster or killer. She represents the woman in charge who will do what it takes to chase the crazy out of these fuckers and get herself a promotion. She does her job better than any man or human. Her hate for men keeps her in check as long as she can control them. Louise Fletcher is etched in subtlety. She's discernible, rational and a doctor's prescription. Her murderous thoughts are a delirious read. She spends a short time in the film but her character wafts through every room, corridor and human being begging for a moment's joy. Jack daddy legend is in it to disrupt it and kill her perfect employment record. He is a man with ownership rights and a threat to her profession. He has no mental issues that would require him to be there except that he hates work and wants to coast in a nut house. He is chaos and destruction but not insane. He hates life but he can survive it. He will inhale only the convivial parts of it. Booze, parties, women and trouble. He pretends, he awakens, parades his heart with glee and makes a team of his followers. Jack is there to free them of their haze and enlighten them with the cool parts of reality. But sadness breaks out and explosions erupt endangering their mental situation. Jack smiles, hates the world, speaks our language, slays our speech, breaks our hearts and is one of the funniest sarcastic mother fuckers of all time. Excellent across the board. 21-Sep-2020
Anna Lucasta (1958)
Anna is the the daughter of father faith and sometimes antagonistic family. She turns to teen prostitution when her father kicks her out just for holding hands with a boy. Established and clawing her way through life she reaches a dead end and is granted one last opportunity to reconcile with family and hopefully marry a man with prospects. She is forgiven but never forgotten. Daddy is allergic to whores, goes into panic when his daughter touches him, drinks and hits anyone in disagreement and sabotages Anna's chances for happiness. Eartha Kitt purrs and roars like the exquisite feline of legend, Sammy Davis Jr. was seriously brutal and heartrending and the cast added vibrations to the words. No nonsense representation. 15-Aug-2020
Uncut Gems (2019)
I feel about jewelry like others feel about watermelons.
The film consisted of many genres, high broiling, at improbable levels. Sandler steadies the flow, not allowing the top to blow off and steering the steam back into action. Talking over each other annoys, the pitch was trembly, the support were emblems, the coincidences were easy to spot and the finale was extensive. It zapped my brain. 28-May-2020
Henry Gamble's Birthday Party (2015)
The chains religion affixes on its followers and the opposition it judges.
Wine is the devil's blood.. desire is for cretins... the sins fade if you invoke his word by chanting it ceaselessly and mechanically, irritating anyone who hears it... skimpy leads to lust which leads to sex and maybe some joy... gay sex is the worst of all, they punish you for that... The film juggles all of it honestly.
Where there is fire there is wood, laying underneath elevating the flames while they smolder to ash. The Leftists awaken enough to overturn an honored twink's christian birthday party.
Everyone gets heard, everyone gets fed up and some actually become what everyone else can't... themselves.
The men are pulled right out of the gay bible and are shot up close to hide background restrictions. The cast was diverse and capable. Friends and lovers are infiltrated and defrocked by a vindictive serial fucker. It should have been fun but the soup was bland. They spent a sizable amount of time talking about big dick and no time exposing it. 04-Feb-2020
Beach Rats (2017)
The lengths gay boys will meander to discharge closeted sex and remain doped. A waste of pretty with nothing relevant to say. 29-Dec-2019
Winter Meeting (1948)
Hulkean war hero has a hard time relinquishing his power to serve God but Bette's there to help. There are reflective moments on mental health when the characters spill and expound. Bette gives the character her established perfection and James Davis is the right giant to pound the rigidity out of her but it defined without comprehensive deduction. 09-Dec-2019
Starred Up (2013)
Fixing anger management whilst in prison. Jack O'Connell wholly conveys a ferocious and unchained delinquent with soft edging. Ben Mendelsohn is definitely the dad you don't want raising you in prison. Rupert Friend is the therapist that wants to reform them expressing very well through character evolvement that they can also reform him. Well acted, "candy-colored," well made. A take on the anger that builds in the underprivileged man. 15-Nov-2019
Last Time I Saw Paris, The (1954)
War, Victory, Love and Life. Taylor struts gorgeously, as does Johnson's Herculean mane. Reed drops sweet for acid, Eva asserts manhunter and Moore is fine cuisine. The dialogue snaps, sexual freedom is commonplace and money kills God's Plan. The story lingers then quickens but star lush endures. 09-Nov-2019
Black KKKlansman (2018)
In order to be entertained by a Spike Lee movie, you must see it to the end.
The beginning stacks so much hate that it begins to feel uncomfortable especially when our current sensibilities are asserted. I felt like the movie was about switching roles which is not equality but subjugation.
John David Washington kept his Stallworth steady when he needed to grow into him. Mr. Stallworth would have been one of a kind and he would appear grateful and not establish his big dick presence (it's an attitude) so early.
Adam Driver seems alive again. He gave his quiet hero a timber.
The details I will remember are the dumbfuck ones. Somebody needed to check out Driver's dick, a cop shouldn't ever use his real name in an investigation and the black KKKlansman was basically a phone operative.
Every ending was a celebration to cheer, laugh and finally understand Lee's idea.
Green Book (2018)
I was predetermined to quit and I almost did at the beginning of Philadelphia but the film had an insistence on allocating an interracial message of unity. Ali rendered a painfully stoic sexual conundrum with too much high and no might. His fingers were the only part of his body trying to throb his character to life. He needed to fill the holes inherited by a lack of backstory. Mortensen breaks through the wrappings to inhabit but the tonal enthusiasm and scrunched up faces spawn 2D animation. It was funny, I drifted with the conversations, history was respected but I never once felt any of it happened. A slow seduction would have blown everything out of the park.
PS: If it makes everyone feel equal to be unpretty then we should stop saying "the magic of Hollywood." 29-Sep-2019
There are tidbits I didn't know. Child genius, warped sensibilities and family hypocrisy. The catalog is immense as is the concept of each song. Many odes to so many things only we can remember. The razzle dazzle is there, the actor siphons the legend's anger and the music remains inspired. A life worth celebrating. 05-Jul-2019
