Trump 'wants to END birthright citizenship before he leaves office': President could strip immigration rights from US-born babies as administration pushes bold policies in his final weeks

President Trump is reportedly considering signing an executive order ending birthright citizenship before he leaves the Oval Office.

On Friday, various sources told The Hill that members of the Trump Administration have been discussing the issue with increasing frequency. They are hoping to push the President into taking action before Joe Biden is sworn in on January 20.

Under current law, all babies born in United States are automatically granted citizenship, regardless of whether or not their parents are American. An executive order signed by President Trump would likely put an end to such legal protections.

Monuments to Black lives have no value without justice and meaningful change

It seems like performative activism is here to stay. America seems just fine with white people, corporations and other organizations simply saying "Black Lives Matter" and doing nothing more. In fact, in the months since I first said I was tired of performative bullshit, it's gotten worse. The COVID-19 pandemic is still raging, even though Americans have decided it's over. Jared Kushner thinks that Black people need to want to be successful to survive – and the presidential election has shown us that America's inherent racism is alive and well. We have a white supremacist majority in the Supreme Court that threatens to dismantle what's left of democracy, and a new justice with a highly-questionable résumé that a Black woman would be sent home immediately for even producing. And the response? Though it was nice to have people from all walks of life join us at protests, white folks still appear to be marching themselves into the abyss months later.

A few of us thought this moment might be different because we were hanging onto a thread of hope that white people might actually get themselves together and make real change. But alas, here we are … I'm still tired.

Ellen DeGeneres Debuts New Look on Talk Show

Ellen DeGeneres has a new ‘do!

The talk show host, 62, switched up her signature pixie haircut for a slicked back style, which she debuted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week.

Her fans and followers reacted to DeGeneres' drastic new look on Instagram, with a few people pointing out that the sleek style is similar to the one her wife, Portia de Rossi, rocked several years ago.

Texas Social Workers Can Now Refuse Services to LGBTQ+ Clients

Social workers in Texas can now refuse service to LGBTQ+ clients and clients with disabilities.

In an unanimous Monday vote, the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners changed its code of conduct to allow discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability.

The vote struck down protections that had already been in place. The board banned discrimination based on sexual orientation in 2010 and gender identity and expression in 2012.

The move had been recommended by the office of Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, as the code’s former nondiscrimination protections went above and beyond those offered by state law, which oversees the disciplining of social workers. The governor’s staff had urged the changes in an email last Friday, which sparked the vote just three days afterward.

The move sparked a swift condemnation. In a Q&A about the rule change — held only after the vote had taken place, Austin-based social worker Tracy Abzug slammed it, reports The Texas Tribune.

Why Lucille Ball’s Daughter Tells Aspiring Actors To Find a Different Profession–’Make Sure You Get a Porno Tape Out There’

Show business has changed quite a but since I Love Lucy was on the air. Lucille Ball and her daughter, Lucie Arnaz, experienced two very different versions of Hollywood. And as Arnaz reflects on the industry today, she doesn’t like what she sees. That’s why she tells aspiring actors to “change your mind” when they ask her for advice on breaking into show business.

When Arnaz was interviewed by the Television Academy Foundation in 2016, she was asked what advice she had for aspiring actresses. First, she says she’d try to convince them to find a different career.

“I think this business has changed so dramatically. I would not recommend anybody going into it. There are half as many parts as there were when we were growing up,” she said.

Arnaz notes that the rise of reality TV has to do with there being fewer parts for actors.

“There’s all kinds of reality TV now because that’s cheaper for everybody to do. There doesn’t seem to be a difference between a reality star and a star star. So why work so hard? Make sure you get a p*rno tape out there right away. That’ll help,” she said sarcastically. “I mean, as you can see, I’m a little, just–I’m baffled by the business at present.”

Over 11,000 People Sign Petition Calling For Gender-Neutral Period Products

Over 11,000 people have signed a Change.org petition rallying for supermarkets in the United States and the United Kingdom to make their marketing of period products more inclusive.

Terms like “feminine hygiene products” commonly used by popular retailers leave out transgender and non-binary people who also menstruate. The campaign, which was created by the personal care brand Natracare, urges the adoption of language that recognizes those experiences.

Chicago Businesses Will Stop Using 'Boystown' Gayborhood Name

According to a decision made by business leaders this week, Boystown is no more.

Since the 1990s, Chicago's largest LGBTQ+ neighborhood has taken on the name Boystown. It's been used in marketing materials, is posted on banners, and is a term known nationally. But Wednesday, in a decision sparked by a petition that began circulating June, the name will be abandoned in marketing for the area.

According to the petition, which was circulating via a Change.org link and has attracted 1,505 signatures at the time of publication, Boystown "is the only gendered nickname" of a queer neighborhood.

"Systemic transphobia, racism, and sexism have plagued our neighborhood for decades, and it begins at the top, with the all-male board of the Northalsted Business Alliance," the petition reads. "It begins with the BOYSTOWN signs down our street announcing that this neighborhood is 'for the boys,' though the signs hang above our diverse Legacy Walk of several LGBTQ icons in our history."

Italians divided over whether Black man’s beating death was motivated by racism

Willy Monteiro Duarte was born in Rome to parents from Cape Verde. He had just become an Italian citizen, and at 21 years old, was an aspiring chef at a hotel in a town near Rome.

All of that ended on Sept. 6 when he tried to break up a fight — and instead was beaten to death himself.

“Fascism in Italy has this history of the cult of the male body, of the strong body, of the strong myth of Rome that ruled the world and so on — a myth of domination,” said Marcello Maneri, an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Milan Bicocca who studies race and power.

“These people [the two brothers] acted like they owned the community," he said. “They wanted to patrol their territory. In the end, I think when they saw this Black guy, they thought, ‘We are the people who must control this territory, not him.’”

Black Lives Matter co-founder describes herself as ‘trained Marxist’

“The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers,” she said, referring to BLM co-founder Alicia Garza.

“We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk,” Cullors added in the interview with Jared Ball of The Real News Network.

It also expresses its appreciation for the work of the US Communist Party, “especially Black communists,” as well as its support for “the great work of the Black Panther Party, the American Indian Movement, Young Lords, Brown Berets, and the great revolutionary rainbow experiments of the 1970s,” Breitbart reported.

We need new representation. Pronto! I've been living my life harder as a better person because someone thought a thug could be a hero. The thugs are the Nazis of our community, raping, pillaging and obliterating everyone they please. The upstanding citizen is always ignored or castrated for becoming...not them. White people don't really much complain because it keeps us busy and makes us easier to tolerate. It's only entertainment. They gift you for achievements unaccomplished while secretly suspecting. They elevate and inflate a selected few to King and Queen status and only support us in causes with the least life stress, less they perceive you as an ungrateful stereotype. The more of a petty life celebration, the less, us, in the pit are safe. You bought yourself a tower to represent the petty thugs that kill us because it's the only swag you've got. I sit here, a victim of countless thugs, refusing to worship or be labeled as one. We almost had them and the thug fucked it up. I don't fucking get it.

You can sit there and wonder, make excuses, but they hate us alike because we are thugs. Get it?

Oops! They can't hear me because they're hiding in a bejeweled tower, we helped create.

I think this is the perfect time to create heroes. Real ones. 12-Apr-2020

If "you" define the music it can't stereotype you. Last I checked, Hip Hop isn't a race. It's a lifestyle convention and I refuse for it to define me because I have no idea what they're talking about and I lived amongst them.

Lupe Fiasco Says He Will No Longer Consume 'Excessively Violent' Content

Lupe Fiasco is making a big life change in the upcoming months: Starting Jan. 1, 2019, he will no longer consume violent content.

“I will no longer support or engage with gratuitously senseless and or [sic] purposeless + excessively violent music, tv, cartoons, content and film,” he wrote on Instagram. “This includes all of the violent music, media and movies I grew up listening to and watching.”

The Chicago rapper’s love for martial arts and fighting video games has been well documented throughout the years; however, Lupe now suggests he will spend more time enjoying “peaceful” forms of entertainment: “There are so many other narratives in this world that involve peaceful means of cohabitation and expression with humanity and the world at large that deserves attention, absorption and contemplation,” he wrote.
