Two men publicly caned for having sex with each other in Indonesia’s conservative Aceh

The men were arrested in November after residents suspected them of being gay and broke into their rented room, where they were caught naked and hugging each other, and took them to Sharia police.

Wendy Williams signs legal document to end guardianship, medical evaluation set next week

Williams has been living in a New York facility, which she said is more like a “prison.”

In the doc, the beloved former “Wendy Williams Show” host claimed she’s only been outside twice in the past 30 days.

“No, no. I am not allowed to go out. I can call you, but you can’t call me,” she told Harvey Levin. “In the last 30 days I went out twice.”

NY Public Library keeping Dr. Seuss books in circulation

The New York Public Library will keep six controversial Dr. Seuss books on the shelves despite this week’s decision to cease their publication due to racist imagery.

The library, which serves Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island, said it does not censor books and will keep the controversial titles in circulation until they are no longer in suitable shape to lend out, a spokeswoman said.

Seattle elementary school cancels its annual Pumpkin Parade because it 'marginalizes students of color

A Seattle elementary school has canceled its upcoming Halloween parade and will be banning students from dressing in costumes on October 31, claiming that the annual event ‘marginalizes’ students of color who administrators claim do not celebrate the holiday.

My Husband Wants to Move Out for a Year—and Leave His Kids.

I have been with the same guy for six years, married for one. He has two sons from a previous marriage, and she is not in the picture. If it is relevant I’m a male too. My husband has asked me if I could accept his moving into his own apartment for a year because he has never been on his own. He says he doesn’t want us to break up, just live apart for a while. The boys would stay with me in our home, and he would take them to spend the night every so often. We would also have a weekly date night just to keep our relationship “on track.” He married his ex right out of high school, and they had children right away, so he really hasn’t ever been on his own. I have not given a response other than asking a few questions. Truthfully the idea makes me mad as hell and I just want to tell him to leave if you want and take your damn brats with you! Then I calm down and realize I can’t live without him and the boys. Or maybe I can. I feel this is unbelievably selfish of him, but I kind of understand. But the boys have already been abandoned by their mother, how would this plan affect them? I am so confused, and hurt. Help!

64 percent view 'cancel culture' as threat to freedom: poll

A majority of Americans say they view "cancel culture" as a threat to their freedom, according to a new Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey released exclusively to The Hill on Monday.

Sixty-four percent of respondents said that there is "a growing cancel culture" that is a threat to their freedom, while 36 percent said they did not view it as a threat to their freedom.

Additionally, the poll found that 36 percent of Americans said cancel culture is a "big problem," while 32 percent called it a "moderate problem." Another 20 percent said it was a "small problem" and 13 percent said it is "not a problem."

If Not Sex Addicted, Then What?

The couple looked troubled. Everything that they thought they'd figured out, that had been explained by their pastor, no longer made sense. "OK, then, if it's not sex addiction, what is the problem?" A moment passed. Then another. "Well," I said, "for starters, it's worse than you think."

Sex addiction, as a pseudoscientific concept, is so very emotionally appealing. First of all, it definitely labels the objectionable sexual conduct as a disease and nothing but a disease so, really, there's no need to look any further. But the reason I told my clients it's worse than what they thought is because it's not the so-called addict who has a problem. The problem is about them as a couple.

Why men rape, in their own words: sex offenders in India and what makes it such a dangerous place for women

A study conducted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation in 2018 ranked India as the world’s most dangerous country for women.

The issues examined included sexual violence and trafficking, gender-based social discrimination, lack of access to and control over contraception and childbirth, health care and maternal mortality rates. Mental and physical abuse, religious and cultural facets such as acid attacks, female infanticide, female genital mutilation, and forced and child marriages were also weighed.

Sexual violence against women is an absolute reality in many cultures around the world. In India, however, it is deeply rooted in patriarchal norms and the belief that men are superior to women and that a man should always be a protector of women.

During her interviews, Kaushal found that none of her nine subjects understood the meaning or necessity of consent from a female partner in a sexual relationship or respected them as individuals with their own unique identities. One of them, a serial gang rapist, even refused to accept the idea of rape.

Another subject, a doctor, raped a 12-year-old bedridden patient following an operation, in full awareness of the mental trauma he was causing. The attack left the patient crippled and incapable of talking about the assault for decades out of fear and shock.

Oliver Stone Criticizes Hollywood for Turning Into an 'Alice in Wonderland' Tea Party

Oliver Stone is not a fan of the current state of Hollywood and is in no hurry to work with a studio on a mainstream film as he says the town has gone "mad."

Talking to the New York Times Magazine for a recently published interview with David Marchese, the controversial Stone called modern moviemaking "ridiculous."

"It's just so expensive — the marketing," Stone began. "Everything has become too fragile, too sensitive. Hollywood now — you can't make a film without a COVID adviser. You can't make a film without a sensitivity counselor. It's ridiculous." The Oscar-winning filmmaker granted the interview to discuss his upcoming memoir, Chasing the Light.

"The Academy changes its mind every five, 10, two months about what it's trying to keep up with," Stone told the magazine. "It's politically correct [expletive], and it's not a world I'm anxious to run out into. I've never seen it quite mad like this. It's like an Alice in Wonderland tea party."

THE PROBLEM WITH ‘BORN GAY’

But the “born this way” narrative doesn’t resonate with everyone, and some doubt whether it’s a useful basis on which to advance the rights and freedoms of sexual minorities. In their research on this topic, Lisa M. Diamond and Clifford J. Rosky concluded that advocates shouldn’t use the idea of sexual immutability to advance the rights of sexual minorities for three reasons:

They’re unjust, because they implicitly accept that same-sex attractions and relationships are inferior (“I can’t help but be like this”).

They’re unnecessary, because judges have used grounds other than immutability to protect the rights of sexual minorities, like anti-discrimination, privacy and the harm caused by laws targeting same-sex couples.

They’re unscientific, i.e. it’s just not true that all people experience their sexuality as fixed — it can change and be chosen.

Women are happier without children or a spouse

We may have suspected it already, but now the science backs it up: unmarried and childless women are the happiest subgroup in the population. And they are more likely to live longer than their married and child-rearing peers, according to a leading expert in happiness.

Speaking at the Hay festival on Saturday, Paul Dolan, a professor of behavioural science at the London School of Economics, said the latest evidence showed that the traditional markers used to measure success did not correlate with happiness – particularly marriage and raising children.

“Married people are happier than other population subgroups, but only when their spouse is in the room when they’re asked how happy they are. When the spouse is not present: fucking miserable,” he said.
