How Tumblr's adult content crackdown could alienate users

Tumblr says it is banning images and videos that feature "adult content," including pornography, from its platform. The change, which will start December 17, threatens to alienate some of the blogging website's most active communities.

The company said Monday that it will no longer allow any images or videos of sex acts, nor will it allow "real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples." It will make exceptions for non-sexual content, including breastfeeding photos and "health-related situations," such as sex-reassignment surgeries and mastectomies.

Texas backs school that expelled girl over pledge of allegiance

The state of Texas is backing a school that expelled a black student after she refused to stand for the flag during the US Pledge of Allegiance.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton intervened on Tuesday to defend the Houston-area school district in its lawsuit with the student, India Landry.

Ms Landry, 18, filed a lawsuit after she was expelled last year from Windfern High School.

The case comes amid political tensions over respect for the American flag.

"School children cannot unilaterally refuse to participate in the pledge," Mr Paxton - the state's most senior law enforcement officer - said in a news release.

New Jersey Official Calls the Cops on Breastfeeding Mom: ‘Legally I’m Allowed to Nurse’

A breastfeeding mom said that a New Jersey official called the cops after she refused to cover up while nursing her 2-year-old daughter.

Michelle Ayala was feeding her daughter Daisy at Franklin Pond Beach on July 31, when a woman from the park’s recreation committee walked over and asked her to cover up.

“She said, ‘I see what you’re doing there, do you think you can do that somewhere else?’ And before she finished, I said, ‘Legally, I’m allowed to nurse wherever I am,’ ” Ayala told NBC 4.

New Jersey law allows women to nurse in public or private. While the beach in question is a private facility, Ayala is a paying member.

SEX WORKERS FORCED TO DITCH TWITTER FOR ALTERNATIVES AS RESULT OF DONALD TRUMP'S TRAFFICKING LAW

Sex workers have been ditching Twitter for an Austria-hosted social network called Switter, following the passage of a set of controversial bills in the U.S. meant to make it easier to cut down on illegal sex trafficking online.

In April, President Donald Trump signed the House bill known as FOSTA, the Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, and the Senate bill called SESTA, or the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act, into law. While supporters hailed the legislation as a victory for sex trafficking victims, critics have said the bills actually negatively impact adult escorts while doing little to actually crackdown on traffickers.

Speaking to German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW), a spokesperson for Assembly Four, an Australia-based firm that runs Switter and an associated site, Tryst, through an Austrian domain, said that the legislation will “only force more workers into exploitation.”

US student's 'Summa cum laude' graduation cake censored

Anyone who has graduated from high school or university should be due a decent celebration.

But Jacob Koscinski, a US high school student, ended up somewhat disappointed.

The South Carolina student's mother had asked a local grocery store to print the term "Summa Cum Laude" (with the highest distinction) on her son's cake.
