Hereditary (2018) Woof

Peculiar family traversing normal obstacles. Toni Collette doesn't just wreck, she explodes. The script challenges the actors and derives tension from emotional disturbance. Ari Aster keeps the scares familial, mysterious and skittish. The more we know the less satisfaction but the work remains solid because it's preceded by excellence. 09-Oct-2019

God's Own Country (2017) Woof

Inheriting a life that your parents couldn't conclude. It's responsibility versus ideology. The farm is an educational revelation and the boys are rough like the terrain. Like in real life, it's all that and a cup of tenderness. 08-Oct-2019

Politician, The (2019-) Woof

Our ladies kept entertaining with sparks of hilarity and gut wringing wit. Adding two surprise divas at tail end uplifted the premise further and Ben Platt graced us with beauty of voice and absolute dickhead abandonment. One of a kind. 30-Sep-2019
How chill must it have been to be swashbuckled by Lady Jessica. We should thank Lady Gwyneth too. She adds the scary to sweet. There is an adjustment period but the story is unique. I hope that it ends well. 27-Sep-2019

Green Book (2018) Woof

I was predetermined to quit and I almost did at the beginning of Philadelphia but the film had an insistence on allocating an interracial message of unity. Ali rendered a painfully stoic sexual conundrum with too much high and no might. His fingers were the only part of his body trying to throb his character to life. He needed to fill the holes inherited by a lack of backstory. Mortensen breaks through the wrappings to inhabit but the tonal enthusiasm and scrunched up faces spawn 2D animation. It was funny, I drifted with the conversations, history was respected but I never once felt any of it happened. A slow seduction would have blown everything out of the park.

PS: If it makes everyone feel equal to be unpretty then we should stop saying "the magic of Hollywood." 29-Sep-2019

Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018) Howl

The quest for survival does not always entail good judgment. Melissa immerses herself in a character that is designed to grate, frustrate and devour and supplies her with a humanity we can sympathize with. We ride happily along as she eviscerates the establishment that pulled the pedestal from under her because she wouldn't play the game. The support is top notch and the writing barks. 05-Sep-2019

Sinner, The (2017-) Howl

It doesn't best the first but it doesn't disrespect it either. The star quality is shared as a group with Pullman adding concerned exhaustion to his detective. The new mystery accelerates, deepens and hurls. Gay swatch, moppet intensity, daddy squish and juicy revelations abound. 03-Sep-2019
It terrifies with the psychology that no matter how virtuous the effort, parents can't take pride in giving life if they can't provide a way for the distressed to enjoy it.

Jessica Biel may be putting up walls but they're decorative. She has the same light that burned Farah's wings on.

I couldn't put the book down. 07-Jul-2018

Rocketman (2019) Woof

There are tidbits I didn't know. Child genius, warped sensibilities and family hypocrisy. The catalog is immense as is the concept of each song. Many odes to so many things only we can remember. The razzle dazzle is there, the actor siphons the legend's anger and the music remains inspired. A life worth celebrating. 05-Jul-2019

What's Love Got To Do With It (1993) Howl

You can clip a bird's wings but it's still going to sing. Fishburne spars rhythmically while Bassett adds muscle to the act. Her lip sync is athletic. 19-Jun-2019

Straight Oklahoma Ally Creates Anti-Bigot Pride Truck, Ends Homophobia

A straight man in Oklahoma became a viral queer ally after decorating his truck in honor of Pride month. Cody Barlow used colored duct tape to create a rainbow flag on the back of his truck, writing on Facebook that he’d “found a way to show my support for pride month” with the flag and using mailbox letters to write a message: “Not all country boys are bigots. Happy Pride month.”

“This is important to me, not only because I have family and friends that are LGBTQ+, but also because countless people have dealt with hatred and judgement simply for who they are, and/or who they love, for far too long,” wrote Barlow. “Obviously doing this isn’t going to change the minds of those who are intolerant, but hopefully it can help drown out the hatred with love.”

Matrix, The (1999) Howl

It maintains its relevance because it sounds like truth. It ripped the adventure sport apart, it stamped itself fresh repeatedly and we were overtook with joy and appreciation for the artistry of clean work. From kool to kickass is the process. 11-Jun-2019

Blume In Love (1973) Arf

A man thinks he can redeem his indiscretions by realizing his wife is the love of his life. The women keep it real, the story never flinches and George Segal keeps it nervously serial. The outcome is so fucked up it loses its purpose. 14-May-2019
