This 7-year-old is making and delivering care packages to the elderly shut in by the coronavirus

Cavanaugh Bell is a 7-year-old on a mission: "To help other people and let them know that I got their back," he told CNN.

At a time when senior citizens must stay in to avoid the coronavirus, the spirited boy in Gaithersburg, Maryland, decided to make them care packages.

"The packages include toilet paper, some flushable wipes, hygiene products and a bunch of food," he said.

'She's my best friend'

The idea came when Bell realized his 74-year-old grandmother is in a high-risk age group for coronavirus.

Pastor who thinks God can change someone’s sexuality also think God will save him from coronavirus

Andrew Wommack, who refused to condemn Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” bill, supports traumatising conversion therapy and claims he witnessed his son rise from the dead, referenced a section from Exodus and said it proved that God would stop the faithful from becoming sick with COVID-19.

I’ve been studying just in the last couple of days, based on all of this, was Exodus 23:25, and that verse says that you shall serve the Lord your God, and He shall take away all sickness – take all sickness away from the midst of thee,” Wommack said in the YouTube stream.

Anti-LGBT+ televangelist Andrew Wommack thinks God will ‘turn off’ cells and stop him from contracting coronavirus.
He then looked up the words “take away” in Hebrew and said they literally translate to “turn off”.

Wommack then suggested that God will turn off “whatever receptors you have in your body that make you receptive to sickness” for Christians, which will apparently prevent them from being affected by coronavirus.

‘Shoot them dead,’ Philippine’s Duterte warns coronavirus lockdown violators

In a televised address, Duterte said it was vital everyone cooperates and follows home quarantine measures, as authorities try to slow the coronavirus contagion and spare the country's fragile health system from being overwhelmed.

The Philippines has recorded 96 coronavirus deaths and 2,311 confirmed cases, all but three in the past three weeks, with infections now being reported in the hundreds every day.

"It is getting worse. So once again I'm telling you the seriousness of the problem and that you must listen," Duterte said late on Wednesday.

"My orders to the police and military ... if there is trouble and there's an occasion that they fight back and your lives are in danger, shoot them dead."

"Is that understood? Dead. Instead of causing trouble, I will bury you."

'Go the fuck home!': Woman repeatedly screams bloody murder, drops f-bombs on anti-abortion street preacher in Seattle 'Gayborhood'

It used to be that abortion-hungry types were intimidated by sign-carrying anti-abortion activists — but those days are long gone. In fact, the opposite now appears to be true.

As we've seen repeatedly over recent years, those who go public on a pro-life stance have opened themselves to far more vitriol and indeed physical harm than those espousing sociopolitically popular pro-choice beliefs.
Anti-abortion activist Matthew Wiersema was on a street corner in Seattle recently preaching the gospel and reminding passersby that abortion is murder, Pulpit & Pen reported.

Well, a woman suddenly appeared with Wiersema on the corner and began cursing at him and repeatedly screaming at him — and he recorded most of the jaw-dropping interaction and posted it to YouTube Wednesday.

"I could hear you from where I live, and I'm fucking tired of it," the woman told Wiersema, adding that "you're fucking too loud."

When Wiersema said he was trying to save people from hell and babies from being aborted, the woman unleashed a loud, lengthy, high-pitched scream at him.

"Did that feel good?" she asked him afterward. "Because that's what I hear every time I hear you talking."

When Wiersema tried to answer, she screamed again, adding that "there's a stay-at-home order that you are literally not following" and "go the fuck home, you asshole!"

Tone-deaf NYU dean sends video of herself dancing to students seeking tuition refunds

Hundreds of students at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts demanded a partial tuition refund since spring classes were moved online amid the coronavirus pandemic –and their dean responded with a bizarre video of herself dancing to REM’s “Losing my Religion.’’

As of Friday evening, a Change.org petition started by NYU students has garnered more than 2,600 signatures from people seeking the tuition relief.

Students say online classes and remote learning via video conferencing app’s like Zoom are not worth the school’s $58,000-a-year tuition.

The petition is pushing for the NYU Board of Trustees “to refund a portion of our Spring 2020 tuition paid for the resources, universally deemed crucial to arts education, lost in the recent switch to remote teaching.”

Teen with lesbian moms forced to listen to anti-LGBTQ “sermons” before school basketball practice

In a lawsuit filed earlier this month, two mothers in Tennessee allege that their son’s middle school basketball coach forced kids to attend his sermons in order to stay on the team.

The lawsuit, filed by the mothers who identified themselves only as “K.K.” and “K.K.,” says that their son signed up for the school’s basketball team, but no one told him that he would have to participate in any religious instruction to be on the team.

But Coach Chuck Comer then allegedly told the students that participating in a “Teens for Christ” program was a requirement for the team. Specifically, students had to show up 30 minutes before practice in the morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays to listen to Comer “read from and interpret the Bible for approximately 30 minutes.”

Even worse, the son went to one of the sermons, which was allegedly about LGBTQ people and “sin.” The teen was forced to endure “harassment on the basis of his parents’ sexual orientation” to be on the team, the lawsuit states.

"We Can't Be Silent": Asian Americans in Hollywood Denounce "Chinese Virus" and Racist Incidents

"I want us all to understand there is no 'Chinese Virus.' A virus knows no nationality, and wherever and however it started, it does us no good to point fingers, ostracize, attack or demonize Asian people."

Shannon Lee, daughter of martial arts film star Bruce Lee, recently wrote this message on her late father's Instagram, offering a not-so-subtle criticism of President Donald Trump and senior members of his administration who have continually referred to the novel coronavirus — which has caused a global pandemic comprising almost half a million confirmed cases of the disease COVID-19 and over 20,000 deaths — as a "Chinese virus," despite the World Health Organization's warning against using geographic locations when naming illnesses.

The phrase is now linked to a wave of racist attacks against Asians and Asian Americans, from hate-filled messages on social media platforms to physical assaults in public.

The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur tweeted about his children being bullied by classmates. Weijia Jiang, CBS News' White House correspondent, revealed that a White House official had referred to the coronavirus as the "Kung Flu" "to my face." Actor Daniel Dae Kim, who recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus, wrote that it had been "too heartbreaking" to initially comment on the "blatant acts of racism against Asian people during this outbreak."

These Strippers Are Delivering Food To Stay Employed And Bring Joy During Coronavirus

No one has jumped on the “from necessity comes creativity” train sparked by the coronavirus outbreak in a more wonderfully weird way than Portland, Oregon, strip club owner Shon Boulden.

As government mandates have brought businesses like Boulden’s to a screeching halt, he has come up with a way to raise spirits in the community and ensure his employees maintain some income: having dancers make food deliveries from the bar’s kitchen.

And it all started as a joke one night at Lucky Devil Lounge, one of his two clubs.

“We were cracking jokes like we do every night, coming up with funny alternate Uber names,” Boulden told HuffPost on the phone Monday, referring to the popular ride-hailing service. “Things like Doober for weed delivery, Luber to deliver lube. Then I was like, ‘Boober, when a topless girl picks you up and takes you to a strip club.’”

When Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) ordered the closure of bars and restaurants save for takeout and delivery on March 16 in order to hopefully stop the spread of COVID-19 in the state, Boulden took an adapted version of that joke to Twitter.

Costco Will No Longer Let Hoarders Return Coronavirus Supplies

Last weekend, the New York Times wrote a piece about Matt and Noah Colvin, the Tennessee brothers who drove 1,300 miles across two states to buy thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer and thousands of packages of antibacterial wipes so they could resell them online at unconscionably inflated price points. (Matt listed those $1 bottles of Purell on Amazon for anywhere between $8 to $70 each.)

Amazon ultimately yanked Colvin's listings, citing the company's policy against price-gouging. And on Saturday afternoon, just hours after the Times' piece went live—and subsequently, viral—the Tennessee attorney general's office sent its own investigators to Matt Colvin's house to deliver a cease-and-desist letter, reminding him of the state's own law that prevents state residents from charging "unreasonable prices for essential goods and services [...] in direct response to a disaster." Before the weekend was over, Colvin was the subject of a state investigation, he'd been permanently banned from eBay, and the storage company where he kept his ultra-selfish hoard told him that he couldn't rent from them anymore. He was also essentially forced to donate all of the hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes that he'd bought, with a local church collecting the bulk of it, and the state attorney general's office taking the rest of it. All of the products will be redistributed to people who will actually use them, not profit from them.

Rihanna's Foundation Donates $5 Million To Coronavirus Response

As various celebrities step up in the wake of the new coronavirus pandemic, Rihanna has donated $5 Million to fight COVID-19 via her Clara Lionel Foundation, the organization announced on its official website. "When we first began this year, never could we have imagined how COVID-19 would so dramatically alter our lives," read the statement. "It doesn't matter who you are or where you're from, this pandemic will affect us all. And for the world's most vulnerable, the worst may be yet to come."

How Berkeley High's Whisper Network Sparked a Movement

BERKELEY, Calif.—Last month, a list appeared, scrawled with thick black marker on a stall door in a girls’ bathroom at Berkeley High School. “Boys to watch out 4,” it read. Six names followed, each appearing alongside allegations including “rapist” and “susAF” (suspicious as fuck). Written next to the list were instructions: “add names if you want,” “stay safe, ladies,” and “support each other always,” followed by a drawing of a heart with an arrow through it.

The previous week, a lawsuit had been filed by a student against the school for allegedly mishandling an on-campus sexual assault case. It was far from the first time that Berkeley High was accused of failing to protect its students; a few years earlier, the school district even became the subject of a related federal investigation. Now, a student had taken things into her own hands.

The message went up during a morning class period and, just a few bell rings later, students poured into hallways now reeking of the harsh cleaning chemicals used to strip the list from the stall door.

'Our 13-year-old was brainwashed into thinking she’s transgender': Parents accuse school of secretly allowing girl to attend ‘radicalising’ mentoring sessions that convinced her that she was really a boy

A school has been accused of secretly allowing a 13-year-old girl to attend ‘radicalising’ mentoring sessions that convinced her that she was transgender.

Ashleigh and Ged Barnett allege that until the one-to-one sessions began last September, their daughter appeared comfortable in her body and showed little interest in transgender issues.

But they say she had changed completely by November, sporting a short haircut and talking about feeling that she was really a boy.

They were confused by the transformation until they met her headteacher to discuss another matter and learned that their daughter had been having weekly sessions with the head of the school’s LGBT group.

Mrs Barnett said: ‘The school didn’t think it was fit to tell us. We are her parents, but responsibility to care for our child has been taken away. The attitude is that it’s the child’s choice and it’s got nothing to do with us.

‘Children at 13 or 14, especially girls, are sometimes not happy in their own bodies – that’s what puberty does to you. They are very vulnerable. It only takes one person with an agenda to plant a little seed that they are “in the wrong body”.’

Using tote bags instead of plastic could help spread the coronavirus

The COVID-19 outbreak is giving new meaning to those “sustainable” shopping bags that politicians and environmentalists have been so eager to impose on the public. These reusable tote bags can sustain the COVID-19 and flu viruses — and spread the viruses throughout the store.

Researchers have been warning for years about the risks of these bags spreading deadly viral and bacterial diseases, but public officials have ignored their concerns, determined to eliminate single-use bags and other plastic products despite their obvious advantages in reducing the spread of pathogens. In New York state, a new law took effect this month banning single-use plastic bags in most retail businesses, and this week Democratic state legislators advanced a bill that would force coffee shops to accept consumers’ reusable cups — a practice that Starbucks and other chains have wisely suspended to avoid spreading the COVID-19 virus.

John Flanagan, the Republican leader of the New York state Senate, has criticized the new legislation and called for a suspension of the law banning plastic bags. “Senate Democrats’ desperate need to be green is unclean during the coronavirus outbreak,” he said Tuesday, but so far he’s been a lonely voice among public officials.

Margaret Court’s Church Reckons “The Blood Of Jesus” Will Protect Them From Coronavirus

This week in ‘Good Ideas’, sub-category ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’, Margaret Court and her congregation have declared that they are safe from the coronavirus pandemic because the blood of Jesus will protect them.

The Victory Life Church released a statement to followers yesterday, saying that daily prayers and additional hand sanitiser are the only measures they’ll take to combat the rapidly-spreading disease.

Thomas Valva's Mom Says She Was 'Begging' for Help to Save Boy, 8, from Cop Dad's Abuse

For years, Justyna Zubko-Valva fought to expose the alleged physical, emotional, and mental abuse she says her sons suffered at the hands of their father and his fiancée. But the mom says her pleas for help fell on deaf ears — and the system’s failure led to the death of her 8-year-old son, Thomas.

“It’s such a tragedy that could have been prevented so many times by so many people,” Zubko-Valva tells PEOPLE.

On Jan. 17, Thomas died from severe hypothermia after allegedly being forced to spend the previous night in the frigid garage of the Center Moriches, New York, home owned by his father, New York Police Department Transit Officer Michael Valva, 40, and his fiancée, Angela Pollina, 42.

The night prior, Thomas and his older brother, Anthony, who are both on the autism spectrum, were allegedly provided no blankets or pillows, and had to sleep on the ice-cold concrete floor. The next morning, Thomas collapsed and lost consciousness.
