Atlanta Rapist Pretended to Be Gay to Gain Victim's Trust
An Atlanta man who pretended to be gay in order to befriend a lesbian has been convicted of raping her in 2015.
Taurence Callagain had met the victim, whose name was not released, at a transit station in Atlanta, and it turned out they rode the same train daily, according to a news release from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office. He told her he was gay, and they struck up a friendship over several weeks.

Christian best friend asks lesbian couple to ‘chill with the PDA’
I have known “Sarah” for half my life. We are now in our late 20s. I came out to her as a lesbian two years ago and am currently dating someone.
Sarah is a conservative Christian, so I have made sure to be careful around her regarding our public displays of affection. I basically told my girlfriend we should act the same around Sarah as we would around family. The occasional kiss on the cheek or hand-holding, nothing more.
Recently, my girlfriend and I asked Sarah out to dinner. She initially replied maybe, then about an hour later told us she would come if we “chilled with the PDA,” and added, “I would ask the same if your girlfriend was a man.”
I am angry. I have been very careful around her, and was shocked at her request. I don’t really know what to do. My family is unsupportive so I hide a significant amount of my life already — they know but refuse to talk about it — and I don’t want to have to hide around my best friend. Any advice on how to proceed?

Father who killed his son because he was gay let out of jail after two years behind bars
A father who is accused of killing his own son for being gay has been placed on house arrest. Now the victim’s mother is speaking out.
In 2017, Giovanni Melton, 17, was shot and killed in Henderson, Nevada. His father Wendell Melton was arrested because police believed that he was responsible for the murder.
Now a judge has let Wendell Melton out on $200,000 bail and placed him on house arrest as he awaits trial.
“I felt betrayed,” said Veronica Melton, Giovanni Melton’s mother.

Jail for woman who posed as man on Grindr and stalked young male couple
A judge has jailed a woman who posed as a gay man on Grindr then harassed a man and falsely accused his boyfriend of being a pedophile.
The woman used multiple identities to harass the couple. She circulated private sexual images and even sent men looking for sex to their house.
Yannick Glaudin, 31, carried out her campaign of harassment in the UK and she pleaded guilty to all the offenses in July 2018. But she evaded justice for over a year by then fleeing to her native France.
However, French authorities extradited her back to Britain in January under a European arrest warrant. And she appeared before a judge at the Inner London Crown Court in Southwark, south London.

I’m sorry to inform you that perhaps some robots are taking this whole “be more human” thing a bit too far. I’ve seen people make jokes about jumping into a river or out of a window when they feel distressed, but one DC-based security robot appears to have interpreted this on a literal level.

El Salvador offers to house violent US criminals and deportees of any nationality
One of the most striking aspects of the deal is that Salvadorean law doesn’t differentiate between alleged gang members and people found guilty of a crime. Under the draconian state of emergency that has ruled the Central American country since 2022, authorities can detain anyone simply on the suspicion of being members of a gang.
Bukele has boasted a high incarceration rate as a recipe for security – El Salvador now boasts the highest such rate in the world – but human rights organizations such as Amnesty International believe many of the over 80,000 people jailed under the state of emergency are innocent.
The State Department’s travel advisory for El Salvador also warns that those imprisoned in the country face “harsh” prison conditions, without access to due process.

What Kids Who Bully Often Have In Common
When parents, educators and mental health professionals talk about bullying, there is understandably a lot of emphasis on the victims. But in focusing solely on victims in anti-bullying efforts, an important part of the equation gets forgotten: the kids who do the bullying.
“Bullying is not a one-time event or a random act of mean behavior but rather a pervasive, ongoing pattern of aggression targeted toward another child who in some way has less power in the relationship,” explained school psychologist Rebecca Branstetter, noting that it’s important to distinguish it from other forms of aggressive behavior or typical childhood conflicts.
Obviously every child who bullies comes from different circumstances and has different reasons for this behavior. There is no one profile of a bully, as each child who engages in this conduct has a unique set of challenges. But there are many common traits and experiences among bullies, and examining them can be beneficial.

India's Monkeys Keep Killing People, so Scientists Are Trying Radical New Sterilization Strategies
One evening last November, a young woman named Neha was feeding her infant son inside their house in Runkata, a small town in the outskirts of Agra, India. Suddenly, a monkey broke into the house, snatched the baby boy from her arms, and made away with him. Neighbors chased the unexpected kidnapper with stones, but to their horror, the baby was soon found lying blood-soaked on a nearby terrace. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Arush, who was just 12 days old, did not survive. Perhaps this sounds like a freak tragedy, a rare case of a wild animal behaving outside its natural order, but truthfully, there was nothing especially rare about this incident.

Flames shot through the Hartford, Connecticut building in the early morning hours, leaving one man dead and dozens had to be rescued. Four other people were sent to the hospital with critical injuries.
A National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Study conducted in 2011 stated that LGBTQ communities of color are one of the demographic groups experiencing the highest incidents of domestic violence.

Man Who Bashed Gay Couple With Chair at Dallas BBQ is Also Gay
A Bronx man bashed a gay couple over the head with a chair inside a Chelsea BBQ joint after one of the men smacked him in the face with his purse, prosecutors said Tuesday at his Manhattan assault trial.
ADA Leah Saxtein argued that Bayna-Lekheim El- Amin, 42, may not have initiated the May 5, 2015 melee, but he took it too far when he stomped on the victim’s head and hurled a chair at him and his lover.
Jonathan Snipes, 33, and boyfriend Ethan Adams, 25, were drinking margaritas at Dallas BBQ when Snipes learned in a message that his uncle was ill, Saxtein told jurors in her opening statement in Manhattan Supreme Court.

The filmed attack on the Taasa family was shown as part of a roughly 45-minute compilation of clips from the terror group’s deadly 2023 assault that killed 1,2000 Israelis.
It was presented to world leaders, diplomats and journalists Friday.
