Gabrielle Walsh, 18, said she was with a male friend in the early hours walking home from a club in Manchester when three men approached them.
“I’d taken my shoes off and this guy came over and said, ‘I like your feet’. I just said, ‘OK,’ and we tried to walk away,” she told the Manchester Evening News, showing off her horribly swollen left eye from this weekend’s alleged attack.
“They kept walking behind trying to talk to me. Eventually, I turned around and said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m not interested,’ ” she claimed.

Why do so many gay men feel lonely? A life coach gives the unfiltered truth
The gay men I work with range from their 20s to 50s. The guys in their 20s are often more attuned to coaching. They’re proactive about their growth and preempt problems by making informed choices. They can be savvy about the need for personal investment.
For older guys, certain issues come up regularly. They include learning to thrive as a gay man as they get older, finding meaningful work and creating authentic connections.

Older LGBTI people fear having to return to the closet
A new documentary premieres this evening at the Luminate Festival in Glasgow.
Return To The Closet was commissioned especially by Luminate and LGBT Health & Wellbeing. Filmmaker Glenda Rome helmed the production.
The documentary talks to several LGBTI people in Scotland aged 50+ about their fears as they age. Many of these revolve around losing independence and having to rely on support from carers or enter residential care.
‘I fear, if I go into care, I don’t want to return to the closet. I’ve been out of the closet since my early 20s, so it’s something that bothers me,’ says one participant.

Alabama sheriff’s deputy attacks LGBTQ community after gay teen dies by suicide
A sheriff’s deputy in Alabama has been placed on leave after he made anti-LGBTQ comments on social media — specifically, on a post about a teenage boy who was bullied until he killed himself, Alabama.com reported Monday.
Last weekend, a local Alabama news station shared Rocket City Pride’s Facebook post about Nigel Shelby, a 15-year-old who died by suicide after being bullied for being gay, according to Rocket City Pride. The station’s story specifically highlighted the fact that LGBTQ people face a higher risk of violence and that they often lack legal protections.
On Sunday, Madison County Deputy Jeff Graves denounced the entire LGBTQ community in a comment to that Facebook post.

LGBTQ Elders Made Our Lives Possible—Now We Must Care for Them
The LGBTQ movement stands on the shoulders of giants. Fifty years ago, our LGBTQ elders shattered barriers at Stonewall. A decade later, they spoke truth to power as AIDS ravaged their chosen families. In the years before and since, they marched on Washington and are still fighting for justice today.
Now it is our time to fight for them — because all too often, LGBTQ elders are not receiving the care and support they deserve. With experts predicting that as many as 4.7 million LGBTQ older adults will be seeking care and services by the year 2030, we must act now.
That’s why the Human Rights Campaign is joining SAGE, the premier advocacy organization for LGBTQ elders, in stepping up to address this injustice by helping to ensure LGBTQ older adults will be treated with respect and dignity when choosing and receiving aging and long-term care.
Stars Help L.A. LGBT Center Open Campus for Youth and Seniors
The Los Angeles LGBT Center Sunday opened the first phase of its Anita May Rosenstein Campus, a two-acre complex in Hollywood designed to serve LGBTQ youth and seniors, making it the world’s first intergenerational LGBTQ facility.

The campus includes 100 beds for homeless youth, a new Senior Community Center, a Youth Drop-In Center, and the Ariadne Getty Foundation Youth Academy. It will also house the organization’s headquarters, being relocated from the McDonald/Wright Building, which will be transformed entirely into a health center. The second phase of the campus, scheduled to open in mid-2020, will have 99 units of affordable housing for seniors and 25 supportive housing apartments for youth.
