Case Of Parents Who Allegedly Used Cattle Prod To Punish Kids Also Involves Horrific Rape Accusations
A South Dakota couple accused of giving their children drugs and shocking them with cattle prods has pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
One of the children told investigators Lance had physically and sexually abused her—raping her at least 150 times since she was 14 years old. The teen alleged that if she refused to have sex with him, Lance would use the cattle prod or hit her or tie a dog collar around her thigh to shock her, court documents said.

Reports of Anti-Asian Assaults, Harassment and Hate Crimes Rise as Coronavirus Spreads
Amid the growing threat of the coronavirus, there are surging reports of xenophobic and racist incidents targeting members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the U.S.
Since January 2020, there have been a significant number of reports of AAPI individuals being threatened and harassed on the street. These incidents include being told to “Go back to China,” being blamed for “bringing the virus” to the United States, being referred to with racial slurs, spat on, or physically assaulted. Statements by public officials referring to COVID-19 as the “Chinese virus,” “Kung Flu” or “Wu Flu” may be exacerbating the scapegoating and targeting of the AAPI community. Meanwhile, extremists continue to spread antisemitic and xenophobic conspiracies about COVID-19, blaming Jews and China for creating, spreading and profiting off the virus.
The following is a representative list of coronavirus-related anti-Asian incidents reported in the media or by the victims. The description of the victims is based on media reporting. Please note: This is not a comprehensive list; for more detailed information or to report an incident, refer to resources established by the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (A3PCON) or Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA).
May 23 – Seattle, WA: A man harassed Asian people at a park and an Asian woman in her car, saying, “Where are you from…where is your ID?”, and “Chinese disease…they bring it here!” Later, the man allegedly yelled anti-Asian remarks inside an Asian restaurant.
KKK Hoods Are Apparently the New COVID-19 Fashion Statement
Police in Colorado are seeking the public’s help to identify a man who went grocery shopping while wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood this weekend, though a similar case in San Diego recently ended with the police throwing up their hands and going, “This is America.”
Some white people have used their privilege to respond to the current COVID-19 pandemic by refusing to follow public health orders to wear masks and not go out to get bad haircuts.
Stephen Fry said he ‘hated the gay scene’ when he first moved to London because it made him feel ‘undesirable’
Fry, 62, spoke about his introduction to the London gay scene as a young and “lonely” gay man on the award-winning Homo Sapiens podcast, hosted by Alan Cumming and Chris Sweeney, which has just begun its fourth season.
The gay icon said he arrived in the capital in 1981, and recalled: “I always hated what was called ‘the scene’ when I arrived in London – I arrived in London at a bad time for any gay person to arrive… it was exactly the same time as the HIV virus, not that we knew there was a virus involved in those early days.
“I remember hearing about GRID – gay related immune deficiency – and bathhouse flu and all kinds of other strange words.”
Stephen Fry described how he would go with his “friend, and lover, at the time” to Heaven and other gay clubs, as well as The Queen’s Head pub in Chelsea.
“I didn’t mind the pub because it was full of cosy old people who sat and chatted,” he said. “But Heaven… the look that you get, up and down, sweeping eyes as you walk into a club. And in my case, the look up and down and quick turn away.
Christian Privilege Is Spreading Like a Virus
At the end of March, President Trump attempted to reassure Americans who are feeling the stress of the coronavirus pandemic by inviting Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow, to speak at his daily press briefing.
Calling America a “nation [that] had turned his back on God,” Mr. Lindell encouraged people to “use this time at home to get back in the Word, read our Bibles, and spend time with our families.”
“Christian privilege” is the term atheists and nonreligious people frequently use to describe how Christian viewpoints, particularly conservative evangelical ones like those expressed by Lindell and Graham, are favored over nonreligious viewpoints in our law and culture. If you ask most Americans, they believe that the separation of church and state enshrined in the U.S. Constitution should apply to everyone and prevent the government from giving taxpayer dollars or special favoritism to churches. Sadly, this is less and less true.
McDonald’s Apologizes After China Restaurant Bans Black People From Location
A McDonald’s in Guangzhou, China has been temporarily closed down after displaying a sign that stated black people were banned from entering the restaurant.
"We’ve been informed that from now on black people are not allowed to enter the restaurant," the sign read. "For the sake of your health, consciously notify the local police for medical isolation, please understand the inconvenience caused."
The racist sign comes at a time where BBC reports hundreds of Africans in Guangzhou were evicted from their apartments and removed from hotels last week in light of a rumor that coronavirus was being spread among African people. Only five Nigerians have tested positive for the virus, the South China Morning Post reports.
I asked 25 ‘Hot Guy’ Instagram pages why there were no men of colour. Here’s what happened…
Why are so many of these ‘Hot Guy’ Instagram feeds that are not only all white but all cisgender and all buff? What does it say about standards of beauty in the gay community?
As so often happens, a friend forwarded me a picture of your typical hot, white, cisgender, muscled, light-eyed Instagram hunk featured on a ‘Hot Guys’ page. As I scrolled down, I was reminded of #HoscosGate: a sea of beautiful, stunning white men, clearly targeted towards gay men. There were no BAME men that I could see, and I scrolled as far back as 2017. I reached out to the page, with a polite, “Hi There [name of page] great page, I have a question, I hope you don’t mind. Why do you not post pictures featuring men of colour?” I was blocked. I sent variations of that message to 25 Instagram pages, and all either replied or blocked me. There were two consistent replies: the first being that guys pay to be featured; the second that men of colour ‘do not like to be featured’. When pressed on that I was told that ‘they don’t want to be on gay pages’.

LGBT charity tells young people to ‘hit pause’ on coming out while in lockdown with parents
The Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT), a charity that cares for the LGBT+ homeless, has warned young people to “think hard” before coming out at this time.
The advice comes as LGBT+ helplines see a surge in calls from people who are stuck self-isolating with abusive family and partners.
“If you’re a young person and you’re thinking of coming out, press pause on that until you get support,” Tim Sigsworth, AKT’s CEO, told Sky News.
He expressed concern for how families may react to their child coming out in this particularly stressful time, and warned of the dangers of being made homeless during the pandemic.

LGBT+ helpline sees calls double as queer people fear being left with abusive families during coronavirus lockdown
An LGBT+ charity has said it has seen a huge increase in the number of calls to its helpline since the coronavirus pandemic started.
The UK-based LGBT Foundation said the number of calls received over the last week was more than double the number received in the same period last year.
Worryingly, the charity said countless LGBT+ people are seeking support as they are stuck self-isolating with abusive family and partners.
They also warned that self-isolation means many queer people have been forced back into the closet, while many more have faced severe financial issues due to the pandemic’s economic fallout.

Transgender woman sexually assaulted at ICE site, advocates say
A transgender woman seeking asylum should be released after she was sexually assaulted and harassed while being detained in an Arizona immigration facility with men for nine months, advocates said Thursday.
Alejandra Alor Reyes, who is from Mexico, is suffering from PTSD and should be released on humanitarian grounds while she awaits an appeal in her asylum case, according to several groups, including ACLU of Arizona, Trans Queer Pueblo and Detention Watch Network.
They say her case is a further indication that transgender immigrants face unsafe conditions and that none are being held with members of the gender they identify with.

A white student in Missouri sent a meme to black classmates that included a racial slur, school district says
Two black students at a Missouri middle school were sent a racist meme by a white classmate, the school district said, and the parents of one of the students want changes to the district's policies dealing with acts of racism.
The two eighth graders at Hixson Middle School were at lunch February 27 when they were sent a meme with a photograph of a white man spraying a young black child with a hose, the district said. Superimposed on the image was the phrase: "Go be a nigger somewhere else," according to Shaun Swearengen, the father of one of the students, who posted it on Facebook.
Teen boys gang raped lesbian to ‘correct’ her sexuality
While party-goers celebrated at Cape Town Pride Festival this weekend, three men held a lesbian captive and raped her nearby.
Police believe the suspects gang-raped her with the excuse they were ‘correcting’ her sexuality.
‘They found two of the gangsters, aged 14 and 17, while the third suspect is on the run.’
"Corrective rape" is a hate crime in which attackers rape victims because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
The term originated in South Africa which has seen the most recorded cases and the most high-profile cases.
But ‘corrective rape’ has also happened in Ecuador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Peru, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, the UK, the US and Zimbabwe.
The gay men risking their health for the perfect body
Jeff Ingold, from LGBT charity Stonewall says it is "crucial" that we see more diverse representations of gay and bisexual men with different body types in the media.
"Not only would this help gay and bi men see themselves reflected in what they watch, it would also help break down harmful stereotypes that affect gay and bi men's body image and self-esteem."
But as it is, Jakeb says he still gets people online telling him they "wouldn't leave the house if they looked like me".
"I didn't go on pride marches and have bricks thrown at me to have the community we've got now," he says.
"We have equality, but we're horrible to each other."
