How To Mess Up Your Relationship With Your Parents

We all messed up the relationship with our parents at least once. Remember that time when dad didn’t talk to you for weeks? What about mom? Did she try to fix it up with a family dinner?

Well, you might not be that young, but what difference does this make. Most adults have a somewhat challenging relationship with their parents. While parents neglect the fact that you are a responsible grown-up, you are hiding behind their wisdom. How many times have you asked your parents for their advice regardless of their experience level? Hopefully, not too many times. We all make that mistake because we neglect that our parents don’t know it all.

Two out of three (66%) of adolescents age 12–17 live with both parents, 24% with their mother only, 5% with their father only, and 5% with neither parent [1]. The quality of parents’ relationships makes a difference to children in many ways. — Act for Youth

Twitter blows up after IKEA “unveiled” a shocking bisexual loveseat for Pride

IKEA Canada has launched a Pride campaign, LOVE SEAT, featuring “10 loveseats inspired by different Pride flags.” It doesn’t appear the loveseats are actually available for sale (yet), and they were actually designed by LGBTQ designers from Canada.

Angry Napa Valley residents go to war with startup that is buying luxury homes in exclusive neighborhoods across US to sell as timeshares and enraging wealthy neighbors

Pacaso, founded in October by executives from the real estate company Zillow, aims to do to second homes what Airbnb did to hotels and Uber did to taxis. It targets luxury neighborhoods slightly off the usual tourist trails.

Critics say it changes the nature of a neighborhood; the company insists it is making exclusive communities more accessible and, by allowing eight people to share ownership of one home, reducing the intense demand on housing stock.

Minnesota girl slams school board over BLM posters after 'no politics' promise

A 9-year-old student took a school board to task over its apparent 180 on a policy barring teachers from displaying Black Lives Matter posters.

The student, who only identified herself as "Novalee," said she saw posters of Black Lives Matter and Amanda Gorman on her teacher’s wall at Lakeville Elementary School. The presence of these posters, she said, contradicted what the school board said at a prior meeting: "no politics in school."

When she cited a school board policy prohibiting Black Lives Matter posters in the district’s schools, the principal allegedly told her that the school board members were the ones who made the posters.

"I am nine years old and I know that," she said. "You expect to believe that you did not know what you were doing when you were making these posters? C’mon people!"

Help! My Grandma Found Out I’m Gay and Banned Me From Christmas.

Dear Prudence,

I am 19 years old, and a few months ago I came out to my parents and siblings. Everyone has been very accepting and loving. The problem is this: My younger sister told my uncle and aunt that I am a lesbian. (It was not done maliciously.) They’re top-of-the-line homophobes. They told my grandmother, who is now banning me from Christmas festivities that we celebrate every year.

I told my parents to just go without me and, while reluctant, they would like to go just to smooth things over. As we get closer to Christmas, I am getting depressed at the thought of being alone for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I could go to my friend’s house, but that seems pathetic. Please help!

Cuomo demands the federal government BAN or require testing of ALL travelers from the UK while the nation battles a 70% more infectious 'Super-COVID' as Canada and Europe block flights

Andrew Cuomo on Sunday slammed the 'reprehensible' inaction as the United States 'continues to let in six flights a day' from Britain, where a new coronavirus strain is spreading - as more countries, including Canada, ban flights from the UK.

The New York governor told reporters: 'Right now, this variant in the UK is getting on a plane and flying to JFK. Right now. Today. Literally six flights a day. And all it takes is one person.'

Authorities had earlier said they were looking 'very carefully' into the virus variant spreading in the United Kingdom, while indicating that a ban on travel from there was not currently in the cards.

Boris Johnson confirms indoor sex is banned – again – in certain lockdown tiers

Downing Street representatives told a briefing of Westminster journalists that partners are free to meet outdoors, but must still adhere to social distancing guidelines, the Evening Standard newspaper reported.

While singles have suffered months of loneliness and asking themselves, “Do I really need this boyfriend pillow?” under the so-called “casual sex ban”, some couples may be barred from seeing one another under certain tiers.

In the raft of new pandemic policies, the first tier duplicates the country’s most recent restrictions. The second tier bars people from different households from socialising together indoors.

Chinese government reportedly would rather TikTok shut down than be sold

China could throw yet another wrench in TikTok’s attempts to secure its future in the US. Officials in the country are opposed to a sale and would rather see the app be banned than sold to an American company, Reuters reports.

The report, which cites “three people with direct knowledge of the matter,” says that “Chinese officials believe a forced sale would make both ByteDance and China appear weak in the face of pressure from Washington.”

Conservatives are flocking to a new 'free speech' social media app that has started banning liberal users

Last week, Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, both announced on Twitter that they were moving to a new social media platform.

"I'm proud to join @parler_app -- a platform gets what free speech is all about -- and I'm excited to be a part of it," Cruz tweeted.

Many others followed suit. Parler, founded in August 2018, touts itself as an "unbiased" social media platform focused on "real user experiences and engagement." In recent weeks, it has become a destination for conservatives who have voiced their disapproval of how mainstream platforms such as Facebook and Twitter moderate content.

But as with every other platform on the internet, Parler's free speech stance goes only so far. The platform has been banning many people who joined and trolled conservatives.

Thanks to anti-vaxxers, a measles travel ban may be coming

As any armchair epidemiologist can tell you, it’s really, really easy to spread disease through air travel. Now as measles become the hot new trend of 2019, health officials and federal authorities are considering banning people exposed to the measles from flying in the hopes of fighting the spread of the virus, which was declared eliminated in 2000.

Eight people across the country have “voluntarily” canceled their travel plans in lieu of being placed on a federal do-not-board list maintained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which would prevent them from stepping foot on a plane, the Washington Post reported. The eight individuals were either confirmed to be infected or had a high probability of having the disease (Read: They weren’t vaccinated and hung out with someone who had the measles).
