Hungary’s Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws Could Ban Kids From Films Like the Black Panther Sequel

On Wednesday, the Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) unveiled strict new rules restricting films in which queerness or trans issues are a “defining feature” to people over the age of 18. That delineation would place, for instance, the upcoming drag queen coming-of-age movie Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the same category as recent R-rated horror releases like Malignant and Candyman.

Texas Right to Life puts out dystopian video encouraging people to turn in women who get an abortion

The video is being compared to The Handmaid’s Tale for the announcer’s dead eyes and chilling demands of listeners, at one point calling pro-choice advocates “those who worship at the altar of child sacrifice.”

The law allows anyone in the state to sue for a $10,000 bounty if they think someone has carried out an abortion after the sixth week of pregnancy or even helped in the procurement of an abortion, like a cab driver or clinic receptionist.

A website allows people to leave anonymous “tips” about anyone they suspect of abetting an abortion. Social media has promoted a plan to flood the site with fake tips, causing it to go down for a while yesterday.

OnlyFans Is Banning Adult Videos

After making millions off the backs of sex workers, OnlyFans is getting out of the business.

"In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and the continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines," OnlyFans said in a statement to Bloomberg, announcing that in October they will discontinue the posting of sexually explicit videos. Users will be able to post nude photos and videos provided they are consistent with the new OnlyFans policy.

Stars Banned From 'Saturday Night Live'

Martin Lawrence hosted the show in 1994, and his monologue caused some severe controversy.

During the segment, he spoke about the then-recent John and Lorena Bobbitt incident, and then improvised a rant about feminine hygiene. The comments were removed and replaced by a voiceover in future broadcasts: “At this point in his monologue, Martin begins a commentary on what he considers the decline in standards of feminine hygiene in this country. Although we at Saturday Night Live take no stand on this issue one way or the other, network policy prevents us from re-broadcasting this portion of his remarks. In summary, Martin feels, or felt at the time, that the failure of many young women to bathe thoroughly is a serious problem that demands our attention. He explores this problem, citing numerous examples from his personal experience, and ends by proposing several imaginative solutions.”

Video shows married gay couple facing down deluge of anti-gay, anti-Asian slurs

Neighbors say they've never heard anything like it anywhere. Vile anti-gay slurs caught on a Ring camera hurled at a gay couple in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Anti-Asian slurs too. All in a long-simmering dispute over a back alley parking space.

The white couple caught on tape insist they're not anti-gay or anti-Asian, but
the language is pretty rough.

Pinkerton: Dr. Seuss Sales Bonanza Shows Why Wokeness Will Lose

It’s now been nearly three weeks since Dr. Seuss erupted into the news. Yes, the eruption is a bit strange, as the famed children’s book author died three decades ago. And yet the story is important because in it we see two things: First, the zealotry of left-wing cancel culture, which made the choice to pick this fight, and second, the power of center-right backlash in response. Yes, when confronted with the abnormal, it’s necessary for normal people to fight back.

Moreover, as the Seuss Saga plays itself out, we are seeing that while the left can win the first battle, the right can win the war.

In fact, in the case of Dr. Seuss, Americans have been actively defending their right to read. In the days after Dr. Seuss’ cancellation, his books soared to the top of Amazon’s best-seller list; indeed, as the Associated Press reported on March 11, Dr. Seuss sold 1.2 million books in the first week after the partial cancellation, more than quadruple the total from the week before.

This is how Trump gets reelected, by the way. Cancel Dr. Seuss, cancel Abe Lincoln, melt down Mr. Potato Head’s private parts and throw them at the Muppets. That is his path to victory the next time around.

LGBTQ themes found in half of the past decade's 20 most-banned books

Books with LGBTQ themes — from popular children's book “And Tango Makes Three” to Pulitzer Prize-winner “The Color Purple” — are prominently featured on the American Library Association’s newly released list of the Top 100 Most Banned and Challenged Books of the past decade.

Titles with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer themes, including “George” by Alex Gino, “I Am Jazz” by Jazz Jennings and Jessica Herthel, and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky, composed half of the list’s top 20 and about a quarter of the top 100.

More Than Half of the Most-Banned Books in America Are LGBTQ+

Ah, the American library. A place where anyone seeking the pleasure of reading can go to gain the wisdom, escapism, and knowledge that books have to offer. Unless those books are queer in any way, shape or form!

The American Library Association recently revealed the top 11 most banned and challenged books of 2018, considered too controversial for library shelves. These are not books which the libraries themselves sought to ban, but rather books that people asked the libraries to take out of circulation for their content. Of the 11 books on the list, 6 of them were challenged or banned because they contained LGBTQ+ content.
