Marvel's 'Black Panther' Sequel Shoot to Begin in July (Exclusive)

Tenoch Huerta, star of Netflix's 'Narcos: Mexico,' is joining the cast of the untitled film from Ryan Coogler, sources tell THR.

Marvel Studio’s plans for the sequel to Black Panther are starting to come into focus.

The sequel was sidelined after the sudden and unexpected death of star Chadwick Boseman and a planned March 2021 production start was waylaid as filmmaker Ryan Coogler and Marvel tried to navigate grief and the need to move forward. It was the nadir of a year that saw no Marvel movies released for the first time since 2009.

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Jamie Lynn Spears was named trustee of the 'SJB Revocable Trust' which was set up by Britney in 2004 to protect her vast fortune and provide for her children's financial future.

The new documents claim the trust was amended in 2018, naming Jamie Lynn as the 'trustee' and the move was signed off on by her co-conservators Andrew Wallet, and their father Jamie Spears.

Network Comedies’ Future Threatened By Outdated Broadcast Business Model

It was once considered the holy grail, landing a comedy series on a broadcast network. But now studios may be walking away from the genre as the decades-old broadcast model is becoming increasingly non-viable in the streaming age.

The broadcast model, created when broadcast TV was the only game in town, is based on the studios taking the risk and reaping the rewards in success. Today, with the rise of vertical integration and streaming, it has evolved into studios taking the risk with very little or no reward to be had, especially for indies, which explains why they have been calling for changes to the antiquated financial formula.

“Downstream economics have changed drastically,” one industry insider said.

In television, networks pay a negotiated per-episode license fee to studios that produce the shows. In broadcast, for the first four seasons, the license fee is significantly lower than the cost of producing a series. The studio covers the deficit, or “deficit finances,” incurring tens or even hundreds of millions in costs before it can start to recoup some of the money spent.

'Unlike the black community, the Latino community is incredibly diverse': Biden puts his foot in it AGAIN as Trump jumps on 'dumb' remark and claims 'Biden just lost the entire African American community'

National Public Radio's Lulu Garcia-Navarro asked Biden if he would stop Cubans from being deported if he became president. It sent Biden into a confusing comment about race in America.

'And by the way, what you all know, but most people don't know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community, with incredibly different attitudes about different things,' Biden said, receiving a slew of backlash for his wording.

Footage emerges of students crowding into corridors and gyms in Georgia and Tennessee as tens of thousands of students return to school amid the COVID-19 pandemic

'First day back to school during a global pandemic. Only saw three students wearing masks,' she wrote on the video.

'Can someone tell me why the fuck I was one of a handful of students wearing a fucking mask? These bitches are dirty!'

Tennessee also does not have a statewide mask mandate.

The reopening of schools amid the coronavirus pandemic has become a contentious issues of late.

'Humans need it': Will a lack of sex force players to break the NBA's bubble?

The need to limit contact to minimise the risks of spreading the virus is obvious, but one prominent pundit questioned whether libidinous players will adhere to the rules. “Do we really think that the ‘recreational activities’, what these guys are accustomed to, are going to be compromised for three months?” Stephen A Smith thundered on ESPN.

“You really think that people are going to be without their wives or their woman?” he added. “Forget three months – they’re going to struggle with three weeks… I’m telling you, they’re going to violate the bubble.” Many players would have preferred to be sequestered in Las Vegas rather than Disney World, he added, given Sin City’s more adult-oriented panoply of diversions.

However logical and necessary given the situation, stowing players in a tightly-regimented exclusion zone for months feels like taking the control that teams often try to exercise over extracurricular activities to a dystopian extreme.

The ‘anti-racist’ drive to turn schools into woke propaganda mills

School will be a very different place next academic year. Classes will be less full; desks, rigorously sterilized. And if the education establishment has its way, teachers will be aggressively woke.

Education Week’s “Classroom Q&A” blog tells teachers: “As Dr. Ibram X. Kendi would say, there is no ‘not racist.’ There is only racist and anti-racist. Your silence favors the status quo and the violently oppressive harm it does to black and brown folk everywhere.”

Anti-racism, in this worldview, doesn’t mean equal treatment of others; it is an all-encompassing ideology that demands constant questioning of one’s own actions and motives and those of others.

For its part, the National Committee on Social Studies’ Early Childhood/Elementary Community has promised to overhaul content, explaining that “to stop the .?.?. systemic pattern of dehumanization . . . we need to start early. WE, as educators, and family members, need to flood our children with counter messages. . . . Messages that show #BlackLivesMatter. .?.?. It is essential to elevate that message until there is no racial inequality in economic opportunity, no racial inequality in education, no racial inequality in incarceration rates and no brutality from police and others.”

'Who will protect you from rape without police?' Here's my answer to that question

As uprisings have spread through American cities in response to the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, a once fringe leftwing position has become rapidly mainstream: abolishing the police. Police abolition means different things to different people, but to most activists “abolition” means a radical shrinking, defunding and disarming of police forces.

The call to “abolish the police”, then, amounts not to a wholesale abandonment of the state’s enforcement of criminal law, but rather to a reimagining of the nature and responsibilities of that enforcement. Many abolition advocates imagine a future in which the police no longer constitute an armed group that surveils peaceful minority neighborhoods or uses force in non-violent drug and traffic cases. The police, if they exist at all in an abolitionist future, would be smaller, disarmed and just one of many community interventions to foster public safety.

But as calls for police abolition have entered the mainstream, some feminists – as well as commentators invested in the status quo – have raised a question: without police, who will defend women from male violence? Who will investigate and arrest rapists? This is often a well-intended and good-faith concern, especially from feminists who believe that the prevalence of sexual violence and the failure of the justice system to prosecute and punish rapists is a result of societal indifference to women’s suffering. To them, this failure calls for more, not less, state intervention.

The notion that abolishing the police will have negative repercussions for women radically misunderstands both American policing and sexual violence
But the notion that abolishing the police will have negative repercussions for women radically misunderstands both American policing and sexual violence. Police abolition need not be considered an abdication of the responsibility to protect women, but rather a way to fulfill it.

Black Cop Fired After She Stopped White Cop's Chokehold, City Wants Investigation

With all due respect, wouldn't the current enforcement instigate themselves in the new robotic training with delicate fingers because they are better qualified, there's that equality thing and because the shit needs to keep stirring? Will they only patrol people of status? The homelessness barely represent. Police or ignore? That gleam in your ugly boss' eye when he catches you staring... is that a crime? Call him ugly, it's ok. Bring slaps back.

Teach what we've got or recruit an unproven advantage that includes the same problem? The job isn't racist, the power to be excused from it is. Are we setting ourselves up for comic book double-cross?

Just a thought. 17-Jun-2020

NYC police union warns the 'city will fall apart' if cops are made to enforce social distancing

A New York City police union has had enough of the coronavirus social distancing enforcement, and warned city leaders that continued efforts to enforce social distancing could cause the city to "fall apart."

The statement from Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch issued Monday accused Mayor Bill de Blasio of putting officers in a bad position with policies that are unreasonable to enforce.

"The situation is untenable: the NYPD needs to get cops out of the social distancing enforcement business altogether," the statement read. "The cowards who run this city have given us nothing but vague guidelines and mixed messages, leaving the cops on the street corners to fend for ourselves. Nobody has a right to interfere with a police action. But now that the inevitable backlash has arrived, they are once again throwing us under the bus."
