Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot: I'm only granting one-on-one interviews to journalists of color

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Wednesday that she will grant one-on-one interviews to mark the two-year anniversary of her inauguration solely to journalists of color, saying she has been struck by the “overwhelmingly” white press corps in Chicago.

“I ran to break up the status quo that was failing so many,” Lightfoot, who is Black, tweeted, also issuing a detailed letter to City Hall reporters on her decision. “That isn’t just in City Hall. It’s a shame that in 2021, the City Hall press corps is overwhelmingly White in a city where more than half of the city identifies as Black, Latino, AAPI or Native American.”

While the move isn’t unprecedented in recent years, it drew fierce scrutiny among the city’s press corps and beyond with members of the media quickly taking Lightfoot to task for her decision.

Men Have Become ‘Quite Feminized’ and ‘Cowardly Genes’

“I think that men have, in my view, become quite feminized. I have these very strong women in my life who do not take masculinity as a sign of oppression toward them. There are a lot of, I think, cowardly genes that lead to people surrendering their jeans and putting on a skirt.”

Gay Man Called Out For Refusing To Accept Coworker’s Apology After Homophobic Rant

A gay man on Reddit got into drama with his coworkers over this sort of situation after he refused to accept the apology of a colleague who went on a homophobic rant.

I told him and my manager not to bother with any apology since I don’t believe it would be sincere in anyway and pretty much only motivated to avoid more severe repercussions.”

“That sparked a discussion, my manager and some coworkers told me I should just go with it and let him apologize to let him save some face, others are saying I’m downright an a** because everyone should have the chance to redeem themselves and some coworkers agree with me that an insincere apology is worthless.”

Why Men Are Bad At Casual Sex

Dan only lives two streets away from me, so I can’t just blame bad luck when I bump into him on the way to the shop wearing the “Don’t Mess With Yorkshire” novelty T-shirt my dad bought me when I moved to London. Dan swings over on his bike, the two corners of his checked shirt flapping in the wind, like a character from a Harmony Korine film.

“How’s it going, B?” he asks, and I’m so embarrassed by my appearance I want to dissolve into the sewer grate under my feet.

For some reason, I invite him over again. He says he’ll be over in 20 minutes, so I shave my legs over the bath, rub cream blush into my cheeks, put on this powder-blue ribbed lounge set that I saw on Instagram.

“I might actually just go to sleep,” he texts me five minutes later, and I just say, “No worries,” because how can you get annoyed at someone you’re not supposed to rely on? But then he says: “If you send me a nude, I might change my mind.” I take a selfie of me with my top open so you can see my boobs, another with the camera balancing on the radiator with me bent down in front of it. “Damn,” he said. “I’ll let you know what I’m doing in a bit.”

Aquaman 2 producer Peter Safran revealed he never considered bowing to 'fan pressure' to remove Amber Heard

Amber Heard is currently filming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, returning as Mera from the 2018 blockbuster Aquaman, though a rather vocal fan base would rather she not returned.

The 35-year-old actress has been embroiled in legal drama with her ex-husband Johnny Depp for the past few years, which has lead some fans to call for her removal from the film.

Angry Napa Valley residents go to war with startup that is buying luxury homes in exclusive neighborhoods across US to sell as timeshares and enraging wealthy neighbors

Pacaso, founded in October by executives from the real estate company Zillow, aims to do to second homes what Airbnb did to hotels and Uber did to taxis. It targets luxury neighborhoods slightly off the usual tourist trails.

Critics say it changes the nature of a neighborhood; the company insists it is making exclusive communities more accessible and, by allowing eight people to share ownership of one home, reducing the intense demand on housing stock.

My 30-Year-Old Boyfriend Has No Interest in Losing His Virginity.

I have been seeing a really sweet guy for three months. He is intelligent, fun, considerate, and generous. My issue is that he is a virgin and doesn’t seem very interested in changing that. We are both in our early 30s. I am recently divorced—my husband was a compulsive cheat—and have a 2-year-old son. I have discussed sex with “James” and he said that he originally wanted to wait until marriage for religious reasons, but now doesn’t feel that is necessary, he just wants it to be with the right person. We were making out the other night and I whispered to him how much I wanted him. He said he wanted me, too, but he sounded awkward and unconvincing. He always tells me that we can’t do anything because he doesn’t have condoms, but he hasn’t made any attempts to purchase some. I can tell he is aroused when we kiss, but I’m worried that he just isn’t very interested in sex. That would be tough for me to handle long term. Is it wrong that I expect our relationship to be further along after three months? My friends say I need a man with more heat and passion but I am hesitant to pass up an otherwise great guy.

Woman Clashes With Her Husband After They Agree To Take In Her Deceased Best Friend's Children

My best friend passed away unexpectedly nine months ago. It was not something that I ever thought would happen.

"She left behind 3 children, 8[Male], 4[Female] and 1[Female]. My husband and I were written to be her children's godparents."

We have never wanted children of our own and do not have any, but we accepted the role of being godparents because we figured that it's just a formality. Plus my best friend did not have many other people she could rely on."

"I want the children. My husband does not. He said he's willing to take care of them on weekends or something but not be their permanent guardian."

"He said keeping the children would violate a pretty big part of our marriage, considering he has never wanted children and has even got a vasectomy to prevent them."

You’re Just Not His Tribe: Rejection and the queer community

Getting older and wiser doesn’t mean you’ll face less rejection. In fact I think most of us would agree that you’ll encounter it more.

Take dating, which is primarily a social dance of rejection and attraction amongst the billions of people who’ve inhabited our planet. Technology has had an immeasurable effect on meeting and courting and coupling. At no other time in history has mankind had the ability to browse an infinite pool of potential partners each day, filtered for you by location, hobbies, fetishes, degrees, etc. I could, potentially, use Grindr’s Explore feature to place myself in Tokyo, meet a guy on the app, and be sipping warm saki with him in a week’s time. Were you to tell someone about this ten years ago, they’d side-eye you before looking back at their Blackberry.

On the flip side, dating has never brought about the sheer volume of rejection we currently face. One hundred guys can reject you on Grindr in a day—more, if you’re tenacious. Mythology suggests that the Greek poet Sappho threw herself off of a cliff due to her unrequited love for a ferryman named Phaon. Imagine if she’d been rejected one hundred times in a day? There aren’t enough cliffs in the world.

Mother Denied Service Because Of Her Son’s ‘Athletic’ Clothes Hires Civil Rights Attorney

Following the apology by a Baltimore restaurant, after the manager refused service to a Black woman, Marcia Grant, and her son, Dallas, because of his “athletic” clothes, the mother has retained a civil rights attorney.

Grant and her spokesperson, Michelle Watts, told TMZ that the apology was not sufficient given the longstanding practices of discrimination at other restaraunt’s owned by Atlas Restaraunt Group.

Renters Are Being Forced From Their Homes Despite Eviction Moratoriums Meant to Protect Them

Millions of people in America are under shelter-in-place orders requiring them to stay home whenever possible, but a growing number don’t have that luxury. Their landlords are kicking them out for not paying the rent, despite moratoriums on evictions in more than 30 states and dozens of cities.

Some landlords change the locks when tenants are out. Others cut off power or utilities, or let themselves into tenants’ apartments and throw their stuff onto the street. Landlords also take the doors off the hinges if tenants won’t leave, says George Donnelly, an attorney at The Public Interest Law Center in Philadelphia. In most cases, experts say, the evictions are illegal, since landlords are required to go through the courts to evict tenants, and most courts are not currently processing eviction orders. In addition, sheriffs or marshals, not landlords, are supposed to enforce eviction orders, including supervising removal companies to carry away a tenant’s belongings if the renter refuses to leave.

Parents Say School Expelled Elementary Students After Raising Coronavirus Concerns

As the second full week of school closures comes to an end, many Bay Area parents are anxiously waiting to hear that it’s safe for their kids to return to class. But for a group of parents in the South Bay, their kids still won’t be allowed back on campus when classrooms reopen after administrators decided to withdraw their children from school in a move that left parents stunned.

The school’s decision comes after a series of critical Facebook comments from parents questioning the school’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I was devastated,” a parent told NBC Bay Area when she learned her child is no longer enrolled. “I feel the school is just retaliating against us.”

Gay Guys With Small Penises Share Their Hookup Horror Stories

“Are you hung/XL”?

If you’re a queer guy, chances are that question has shaped a good chunk of your Grindr experience. Sure, it’s a casually posed enquiry. But the question reinforces the stigma surrounding penis size – particularly in male-male hook-up culture – that drives many men to feel ashamed, embarrassed or undesirable.

When it comes to penis size in male-male hook up culture, individuals can end up afraid of dating, put off sexual activity and in some cases abstain from sex altogether to remove themselves from the risk of being shamed, or feeling shamed. Yet, penis size-shaming continues to be broadly presented as a joke in popular culture, as this recent Guardian article surmised so well.

So in the interest of smashing the stigma and humanising the situation, here are four men with smaller penises who have told VICE the reality of their experience, and how it feels to be discriminated against.

“I asked if everything was OK, and my hookup said: ‘Only men with big cocks can fuck me’”
