I just watched McDonald's new AI drive-thru and I've lost my appetite

"Welcome to McDonald's," began exactly the same female robot voice you've heard every time you've tried to get through to a customer service operative at every internet provider/cellphone carrier/just about every business these days.

The McDonald's robot continues: "We're currently serving a limited menu, so please review the menu before ordering."

There's little more welcoming than being greeted by an inhuman voice telling you that the thing you want to order may not actually be offered today.

But goodness, this is just an experiment, isn't it? Surely the robot is programmed to offer a tinge of wit, no?

No.

This Fast-Food Chain Is the Likely Source of a New Norovirus Outbreak

According to Food Safety News, shortly after eating at the location of the fast-casual chain on 6710 S Cornerstar Way, as many as five high school students and six other people from the area came down with symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, low-grade fever, and body aches.

Customer Kristi Ryan told a local television station that her family fell ill within 36 hours after eating three burritos, a burrito bowl, and a small soft taco from the Chipotle restaurant. The symptoms were particularly severe for her eight-year-old daughter who was admitted to urgent care due to dehydration.

Almost 100 Customers Are Sick After Eating at This Popular Fast-Food Chain

Since our first report on Feb. 28 about 40 cases of foodborne illness linked to an Arby's location in Springfield, Ill., dozens of more customers have fallen ill, forcing the fast-food restaurant to close for the second time in less than a month.

According to Food Safety News, almost 100 cases of illness have now been reported from the specific Arby's location, and while the source of the contamination is still unknown, health officials have stated the pathogen in question is norovirus. The virus is highly contagious and spreads easily, making it difficult to eradicate.

16 Unhealthy Foods That Aren’t That Bad For You, According To Nutritionists

We've basically been conditioned to believe that certain foods are unhealthy, meaning that if you're trying to diet or eat as healthily as possible, you should avoid them at all costs. Aside from the fact that restrictive dieting is never a great idea, you might also be surprised to learn that many of the foods that have always been called "bad" for you are actually really not as terrible as they seem. In fact, many of those foods can be part of a wholesome, healthy diet as long as they're eaten in moderation, like nearly everything else.

We spoke to nutritionists and dietitians to get the truth. Here's a look at some classic "unhealthy" foods that really aren't that bad for you.

Chick-fil-A Says Its Anti-LGBTQ+ Donations Are a “Higher Calling”

We all feel a higher calling sometimes. Maybe it’s to be a teacher. Maybe it’s to leave your six-figure job and be a full-time drag queen. Or maybe, if you’re the CEO of Chick-fil-A, it’s a calling to donate to anti-LGBTQ+ organizations.

In an interview with Business Insider, Chick-fil-A’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and executive director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation Rodney Bullard said that the company felt a “higher calling” to donate its money to anti-LGBTQ+ organizations.
