People with mental health issues ‘need more help with money’
The Money and Mental Health Policy Institute surveyed nearly 500 people with mental health problems and found that 64% of them felt they would have recovered more quickly if they had had help with their finances.
The institute says people with mental illness are being left to fall into damaging cycles of money issues and worsening mental wellbeing because they’re not given crucial information about how their condition can increase the risk of financial difficulty.
Did you know, for example, that someone with OCD is ‘six times more likely to have serious money issues’? Or that an experience of any mental health issue makes you three and a half times more likely to be in debt?
Those with depression are five times more likely to experience serious financial struggles, as the condition’s low moods and poor concentration can make managing finances feel impossible, while bipolar disorder’s manic episodes can increase the risk of excessive and impulsive spending.

Humans Can Reverse Their Biological Age, Shows a 'Curious Case' Study
In a small, 1-year clinical trial published Thursday in the journal Aging Cell, nine participants took three common medications — growth hormone and two diabetes drugs — and reversed their biological age by 2-and-a-half years on average. Greg Fahy, Ph.D., lead author of the study and chief science officer of anti-aging therapeutics company Intervene Immune, tells Inverse that this research proves the concept that biological aging may not be unstoppable.
“One of the lessons that we can draw from the study is that aging is not necessarily something that is beyond our control,” he says. “In fact it seems that aging is largely controlled by biological processes that we may be able to influence.”

Jair Bolsonaro: 'Poop every other day' to protect the environment
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has suggested people should "poop every other day" as a way to save the planet.
His comment came in answer to a journalist who asked him how to combine agricultural development and protecting the environment.
Mr Bolsonaro recently came under fire after official data showed an increase in deforestation in the Amazon.
He then sacked the head of the agency that reported the increase, accusing it of lying about the problem's scale.

3rd American in a month dies during plastic surgery in the Dominican Republic
A mother from New Rochelle, New York, died while undergoing plastic surgery in the Dominican Republic, CBS New York reports. She is the third American to die in a month during a cosmetic operation in the Caribbean nation.
According to her sister, Maxine David, Alexandra Medina was unhappy with her appearance, and asked doctors in the U.S. about undergoing liposuction. However, she was apparently told that she needed to lose weight before getting the surgery.
Her sister says Medina contacted a Dominican doctor through Facebook, who said the surgery wouldn't be an issue. "This doctor was like, 'No problem. We can do it. We can handle it. We've dealt with bigger women, so come here. We'll do it.' And it was obviously also cheaper," David said.

Tips To Help Improve Positivity
Positive Thinking
One of the best ways to remain positive is just to emphasize postive thinking. It should be noted that positive thinking doesn’t mean ignoring problems when they occur or looking at the world when blinders on. It simply means that you should approach difficult or unpleasant situations in a positive and productive way in which you look to remain happy and find solutions when you feel they are needed.

Do you consider your home a great investment? Think again
Your home may be many things. A place to raise your family. An opportunity to put down roots.
But one thing it is not is a great investment, according to Jonathan Clements, editor of HumbleDollar.com and author of “How to Think About Money.”
That’s because the price appreciation of a house is “pretty modest” — about 1% a year faster than inflation, historically speaking, he said.
Freddie Mac is forecasting home prices will grow 3.6% in 2019 and 2.6% in 2020. According to the latest figures from the Labor Department, the inflation rate as tracked by the Consumer Price Index is 2% for the 12 months ending in April.
“You put it all together and most people are not keeping up with inflation after costs, and they may even be underwater, ” said Clements, who prefers the higher long-term rate of return of the stock market.
