Craft Legacy (2020)

It gets down to business. Three practicing high school witches need a fourth to obtain their full powers. Enter nondescript beauty and all their dreams come true. We celebrate and we vow then realize that like masturbation, the power is ours. People don't share well. Too many ideas that were worth exploring that remained untouched. Nicholas Galitzine is worth enthralling but the reasoning didn't make sense. He was too infatuated to warrant one. Though the twists were a treat, it needed revenge craft. Lots of bloody hell of it. 05-Apr-2021
Downsizing (2017)

A novel scientific resolution to save the environment revolutionizes the planet. The idea is to shrink people by offering the struggling worker a comfortable life and deem prisoners and hostiles of the government their servants. Matt Damon spoke Spanish eloquently, pulled deep emotion and cast a sad hero. Only 3% become small, the planet doesn't get better and life decisions have to be made. I think Kristin Wiig should main it for the sequel. She'd weave a funny awkward life into it. I wanted more of everything. I wanted to nerd out with corny effects and funny big people scenarios but the budget remained tight. The ending is about choices and priorities. We get to choose with them. 11-Nov-2020
Midnight Special (2016)

A boy special enough to kill and protect. Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton and Adam Driver are daddy courage serving ass whippings and child protection. Kirsten Dunst inhabits a mother's sacrifice without saying a word. Solid acting sustains the probability. Little boy holds back when he should and only releases to surprise us. The theory echoed and much of the discovery is amazing. There are things I don't biologically understand but the sci-fi thrills are enough to make you forget it. (The scenario I always dreamed of played out and it destroyed my functionality.) 20-Sep-2020
Strange But True (2019)

Boy meets girl, prom virginity loss ensues, dream boy dies and, five years later, the girl is pregnant with his child. The drama is about the reveal and it rolls heavily towards it. There are flaws aplenty. I didn't understand why mama needed to go to the library to get information that seemed readily available on the internet and why they were hesitant to call 911 after evidence deemed it an emergency but the cliches are overwhelmed by mood, taste and bite. Blythe Danner is best actress support, Brian Cox succeeds in being someone else, Margaret Qualley emitted Emma Roberts realness plus hippie control, Allegra Fulton added some magic, Nick Robinson is a twink of the force and Kinnear smashed golden ass. The cast was great and the ending is all. 08-Sep-2020
Simon Killer (2012)

A heartbroken American goes to France to release himself. It is filled with ad lib banter (too many uhs and hmmms,) the sex was accurate (it gives you a woody) but the motivation was incomplete. 26-Aug-2020
1BR (2020)

Conversion therapy for bubble-raised souls. The neighbors smile when you don't and hammer shit in you, when you won't. If you don't belong, they break you til you do. I wanted to scream for the protagonist but HOA/Social Media bills were past due. The first pumped me up, the last deflated me a bit but the whole was encouraging. 23-Aug-2020
Europa Report (2013)

Astronauts look for signs of other life in outer space. Precise edits and an amazing landscape help bring the space to the expedition but the threat was shrimpy. 08-Aug-2020
Ad Astra (2019)

Universal travel, planet saving and soaring daddy issues.
The director feeds us unique vistas and exhilarating action but makes us feel like we're riding a bullet train. It spins by, it's amazing, I'm glad I saw it but it didn't mean anything. It had no attachment to the story.
Pitt attacks like it's his story to tell. He's exhausted, full of gruff and self analyzation. It was a most personal rendition.
Tommy Lee is "grand" daddy to everything Pitt did. 22-Jun-2020
Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971)

Stagnant study, of a woman and a man sharing a relationship with a twinkster. The rules are the same no matter the generation or the politic. The bird marches on the streets of beauty, protesting the disparity of life while ignoring the feelings of those around him. His fluidity grants him power to cross pollinate and be voraciously welcomed by those of privilege whose lack in life is progressive. To the woman he brings sexual fulfillment and purpose, to the man, a sense of accomplishment and pride. Youth ping pongs between them like the parents he needs right now, not the lovers he'll end up with, later. Birds must fly as parents must contend with surviving on memories. Children and family are an aside that contain the most life. The children annoy as much as delight, smoking drugs, having fits, asking complicated questions, noticing sexual things and killing dogs. 06-May-2020
No Way Out (1950)

Black doctor cares for two supremacist thugs. Race riot ensues when one dies. The movie is forthright and balanced with chills of emotions. Poitier is standard upright in a younger package. Widmark splatters the screen with hate like he meant it. Linda Darnel was the damsel in distress with heroic genes. Amanda Randolph deserves loads of cuddles for being. Mildred Joanne Smith was luminous at heart. It's an everlasting battle to fight for what our greater parents started. 20-Apr-2020
Big Time Adolescence (2019)

I was expecting a rebellious and outrageous comedy but was impressed with a calm rendition of a boy's passage to manhood. $, drugs, sex and girls are what a boy negotiates during this stage of exploration but the satisfaction of being cool with your bud is everything. Gluck, Davidson and Cryer epitomize the title and lend credence to why they don't want to grow up.The film's detachment impedes greatness but it was close. 14-Mar-2020
Farewell, The (2019)

Family saying goodbye to a most adorable nana whose unaware she's dying. It is heritage that deigns not telling the patient they are terminal for fear it would exacerbate the symptoms. The Americanized part of the family are predisposed to tell because we have a need to finalize life. The elders would prefer to respect her life by allowing her to enjoy what's left. Awkwafina tempers the doubt, the confusion and the love as the film quietly distills it. 13-Mar-2020
Henry Gamble's Birthday Party (2015)

The chains religion affixes on its followers and the opposition it judges.
Wine is the devil's blood.. desire is for cretins... the sins fade if you invoke his word by chanting it ceaselessly and mechanically, irritating anyone who hears it... skimpy leads to lust which leads to sex and maybe some joy... gay sex is the worst of all, they punish you for that... The film juggles all of it honestly.
Where there is fire there is wood, laying underneath elevating the flames while they smolder to ash. The Leftists awaken enough to overturn an honored twink's christian birthday party.
Everyone gets heard, everyone gets fed up and some actually become what everyone else can't... themselves.
