LGBTQ People Must Condemn Violence Against Asian-Americans
Being an immigrant born in South Korea is always a factor in who I am and how I am treated in America. However, the xenophobia I am experiencing related to the COVID-19 pandemic is heartbreaking. In the past month alone, a mother yanked her child away from me while saying disgustedly, “Those people,” and a man turned his entire body away from me in an airport.
The disgust, anger, and fear that people are directing toward Asian-Pacific Islander folks in the United States is palpable.
The violence against API folks is drastically increasing as a result of xenophobia and fear due to COVID-19. In Midland, Texas, a man stabbed three members of an Asian-American family — including a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old — because of their race. The FBI has since ruled this attack as a hate crime, and ABC News reports the agency’s analysis of crimes against API individuals is expected to surge in the coming weeks.

Court rules people cannot define themselves as gender-neutral on passports
A court has ruled that people cannot define themselves as gender-neutral on passports.
Christie Elan-Cane, who identifies as non-gendered, brought a challenge to the Court of Appeal arguing that passports should include an “X” category for individuals who identify as gender-neutral, non-binary, intersex or other.
They believe that the UK’s current passport application process, which requires individuals to identify themselves as either male or female, is “inherently discriminatory” and infringes the right to privacy.
But the appeal was dismissed by senior judges, who said the policy is not unlawful. It’s a decision Christie has described as “devastating”.
The tyranny of woke: How it's fashionable in modern Britain to believe there's no difference between men and women
Imagine a group of time travellers transported from the 1950s to today. The way the world has changed would astonish them.
They would marvel at the technological innovations which have transformed our lives. And they would be amazed by the material prosperity enjoyed by so many.
But they would also be surprised at how much of the old moral framework they knew had disappeared.
For example, they would be startled to learn of the soaring divorce rate and the massive increase in every kind of crime.
They might also be taken aback to find out how obsessed with sex Western society has become.
But of all the changes, nothing would puzzle them more than the preoccupation with what is now known as ‘gender’.
On discovering it was now fashionable to believe that, psychologically and biologically, there is no difference between men and women, our time travellers would stare in open-mouthed disbelief.
Although they would see males and females looking as different from each other as ever – with most people pushing baby buggies being recognisably female and most construction workers recognisably male – were they really to believe these differences were not rooted in nature, but were all just a ‘social construct’, the result of ‘gender stereotyping’?
