Why Does Coffee Make You Poop?

Starting the day with a cup of coffee may be as much a part of your morning ritual as checking your phone for new texts. The jolt of java delivers an eye-opening boost of caffeine. The warm beverage can lull you slowly from your slumber. Plus, coffee is rich in antioxidants and beneficial chemicals.

But for roughly a third of coffee drinkers, that morning cuppa jump-starts more than just their day — it revs up their stomach, too. For these people, going to the bathroom straight after they've finished their first cup is also part of their routine (and for some, purposefully so). Others may even choose to drink coffee for this very reason.

So why does coffee make you need to poop? And is that good or bad?

Masturbating Can Help You Cope With Anxiety — Seriously

Rita M., a 20-year-old social work student living in Seattle, Washington, used to masturbate three to five times a week. But as with everything else, during a global pandemic, self-pleasure has been hard to come by. She's not alone in finding it more difficult to engage in this form of self-care. And yet, the benefits of masturbation may actually come in more handy than ever. Tending to ourselves is one step in navigating a new normal.

“It has been more difficult to be ‘in the mood’ because, in my head, I ask myself, ‘Why is masturbation something I’m thinking about when there’s a pandemic happening in my backyard?’’ Rita tells InStyle. Witnessing enormous struggles and injustices by vulnerable populations dominates my mind. Masturbation gets brushed aside and distress consumes me.”

There's no doubt that coronavirus and it’s ripple-out effects — the obvious fear and worry, the restricted human interaction — have had negative impacts on people’s mental health. Back in March, 45% of Americans reported the virus had taken a toll on their emotional wellbeing, and according to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll, the number of people who are experiencing anxiety and depression has spiked as a result of the pandemic.

New Yorkers agree that this is the worst place in the city

Currently in a heated debate about top three worst places in NYC. My answers are Columbus Circle Whole Foods, Union Pool & Grand Army Plaza (Brooklyn). I am countered with the 86th st. 4/5/6 station, the Port Authority Bus Terminal & the NY Aquarium.

How is no one mentioning LaGuardia airport?

Waiting for the D train at 34th street subway stop mid July with full humidity at 90 degree temps.

A rat touched me at chambers st station

If you told me the Herald Square station was actually sitting just a few inches above the molten core of the planet Earth I would not argue.

Nowhere to go: Some inmates freed because of coronavirus are 'scared to leave'

John Mele is one of roughly 700 inmates who were released from county jails in New Jersey to address the growing novel coronavirus pandemic. But when he was handed two bus tickets and freed, he said he was frightened, not relieved.

"I was scared to leave," Mele told CNN. "There ain't too much sh** that I'm scared of. I'm scared of heights and I'm scared of going to something I don't know about."

He said he was given five minutes notice last Thursday after he was told he was leaving the jail three months earlier than his sentence for breaking into a fishing store. He had no place to go and no assurances that he was healthy.

"No temperature check. Nothing. They gave me two bus tickets," Mele said. He was steered toward a homeless shelter, but said he refused, concerned the virus would be spreading inside the cramped housing complex.

"I'm telling you the honest truth, if I had to go to a homeless shelter, I'm going back to jail.

Sex predator William Gordon carried out 'horror' attack on stranger after early prison release

A serial sexual predator who carried out a “horror” attack on a stranger had been set free from prison despite posing a known risk to women and girls, a court heard.

William Gordon, 34, was released just weeks before he stalked a series of women in south London late at night while “scouting” for a victim.

When he struck, Gordon pinned a woman against an alleyway wall as he sexually assaulted her and, after she broke free, chased her down to continue the attack.
