School worker claims ‘extremist’ rants against LGBT-inclusive education were ‘morally necessary’ to defend the Bible

Kristie Higgs, 44, had been employed at Farmor’s School in Fairford, Gloucestershire, for seven years, but was sacked for gross misconduct in 2018 over Facebook rants about LGBT+ inclusive education.

In one post, sharing a petition from anti-LGBT+ lobbying group CitizenGo, Higgs accused schools of “BRAINWASHING OUR CHILDREN” [sic] through inclusive relationships education, claiming: “[This] means, for example, that children will be taught that all relationships are equally valid and ‘normal’, so that same-sex marriage is exactly the same as traditional marriage, and that gender is a matter of choice, not biology, so that it’s up to them what sex they are.”

Higgs described inclusive education as a “vicious form of totalitarianism”, adding: “Please sign this petition, they have already started to brainwash our innocent wonderfully created children and it’s happening in our local primary school now.”

But this week, Higgs announced that she would be taking legal action against Farmor’s School, claiming that she was subjected to discrimination and harassment on the grounds of her religious beliefs.

Florida city repeals 13-year ban on saggy pants

After 13 years, a South Florida city has overturned a ban on “saggy pants” — bottoms that reveal the wearer's underwear.

The Opa-locka City Commission voted Wednesday on a 4-1 vote to repeal both the original 2007 legislation and a 2013 ordinance that said women, not just men, could receive civil citations for wearing pants that exposed their undergarments.

Jon Gosselin accused of physically abusing 16-year-old son Collin

Jon Gosselin may be under investigation over an alleged incident involving his son, Collin Gosselin.

The claims came in the form of a now-deleted social media post viewed by the outlet.

“My dad is a liar,” Colin wrote in the since-deleted post. “Yesterday he beat me up and thought nothing of it, he punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding. He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor. He is a liar.”

Oscar for wokeness: Anger in Hollywood as it is announced films will have to meet 'representation and inclusion' requirements if they are eligible to win Best Picture

Film stars raged at 'Woke Hollywood' last night after the Oscars announced that movies will have to meet diversity targets to be eligible to win Best Picture from 2024.

The Academy Awards shake-up means films hoping to win the top prize will have to hire more black, female, LGBT or disabled cast and crew or address themes that affect those communities.

The move comes after months of race protests in the US and years of pressure from activists who have called for a boycott of the glitzy event.

'The new RULES to qualify for Best Picture are dictatorial... anti-artist... Hollywood you're swinging so far left you're bumping into your own ass.'

Fellow actor Nick Searcy said: 'The Oscars used to be, just like the movies, something we all shared.

'Woke Hollywood turned it all into a weapon they could use against anyone who disagreed with their politics. This is how Hollywood destroyed itself, like the NBA, NFL and MLB just did.'

Film blogger Sasha Stone said: 'If the Academy inclusion mandate makes marginalized people feel they have a better chance getting employed I think that's a success.

'But I don't like that productions will be disqualified if they don't meet the demands. Just not the purpose of the Oscars.'

'Kinky' Kentucky judge, 39, who 'had a threesome with two underlings, ruled against attorneys who rejected her sexual advances, and let her staff drink alcohol in the courthouse' is removed from the bench after being found guilty of 10 misconduct charges

An embattled Kentucky judge accused of having sex in her courthouse and letting staff drink alcohol at the office has been removed from the bench.

The Kentucky Judicial Conduct Commission (KJCC) on Monday voted unanimously to remove Kenton County Family Court Judge Dawn Gentry after she was found guilty of 10 out of 12 misconduct charges brought against her in January.

A wild four-day misconduct hearing saw witnesses testify about how Gentry allegedly engaged in a threesome with two underlings in her chambers, allowed her staff to store and consume alcohol in court offices and hired people because she was involved in relationships with them.

Players allege Texas Tech basketball coach created toxic, abusive environment

It's time we have a real conversation about college coaches and some of their methods when it comes to coaching.

In a series of season-ending exit interviews, players made allegations about a culture of abuse in the Texas Tech program since Coach Marlene Stollings took over in April 2018. They say a toxic atmosphere has prompted an exodus of players, including 12 of 21 leaving the program, seven of whom were recruited under Stollings, as reported by USA Today.

Claims were made from multiple players in the program, but perhaps the most startling of these complaints were that Stollings had players wearing heart monitors during games, practices and workouts. If players heart rates dropped below 90% capacity for more than two minutes of game time, players would have to answer to Stollings and her coaching staff...

America Is on Track for a Million Coronavirus Cases a Day, and at Least 800,000 Deaths, by the End of 2020

If someone had suggested five months ago that we would be seeing more than 3 million cases and 135,000 COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. by mid-July, I wouldn’t have believed it.

But now it’s distinctly possible that, five months from now, half of all Americans could have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, and more than 800,000 Americans may die in this extraordinary outbreak. That is what many of our most prominent public-health experts now expect.

A Black Teen Was Jailed for Failing to Finish Her Online Schoolwork

When schools across the country canceled in-person classes amid the coronavirus outbreak this spring, student participation plummeted. Some students — in particular, those from low-income families — lacked adequate access to computers and Wi-Fi to complete their online coursework. Children with disabilities, who often require more in-person support, also struggled to adjust to the abrupt transition to remote learning. But participation issues were widespread: In early April, per the New York Times, teachers in districts across the country were reporting that fewer than half of their students were routinely participating in virtual learning.

Yet despite how common school-participation issues have been amid the pandemic, not all cases have been treated with leniency. ProPublica reports that in mid-May, a Michigan judge found a 15-year-old Black student guilty of “failure to submit any schoolwork and getting up for school,” and sent her to juvenile detention.

Per Judge Mary Ellen Brennan’s ruling, the severe sentence was warranted because the student, Grace — who attends a predominately white school — was on probation for fighting with her mom and stealing another student’s cell phone. Failing to complete her coursework, the judge ruled, was a direct violation of Grace’s probation. At the sentencing, Brennan described Grace as a “threat to (the) community,” and ordered that she be sent to Children’s Village, a 216-occupancy youth detention center. She has been in custody since May 14, when she was removed from the courtroom in handcuffs. In early September, there will be a hearing to review the case.

Oliver Stone Criticizes Hollywood for Turning Into an 'Alice in Wonderland' Tea Party

Oliver Stone is not a fan of the current state of Hollywood and is in no hurry to work with a studio on a mainstream film as he says the town has gone "mad."

Talking to the New York Times Magazine for a recently published interview with David Marchese, the controversial Stone called modern moviemaking "ridiculous."

"It's just so expensive — the marketing," Stone began. "Everything has become too fragile, too sensitive. Hollywood now — you can't make a film without a COVID adviser. You can't make a film without a sensitivity counselor. It's ridiculous." The Oscar-winning filmmaker granted the interview to discuss his upcoming memoir, Chasing the Light.

"The Academy changes its mind every five, 10, two months about what it's trying to keep up with," Stone told the magazine. "It's politically correct [expletive], and it's not a world I'm anxious to run out into. I've never seen it quite mad like this. It's like an Alice in Wonderland tea party."

Burger King workers stage strike after trans co-worker dies while working with COVID-19 symptoms

Staffers at the Santa Monica fast food restaurant retaliated after Angela Martinez Gómez died after being reportedly made to work a week even while displaying symptoms. Picketers, as well as the complaint, claimed that the company did not provide staff with protective gear.

One manager at the branch at 1919 Pico Boulevard allegedly blamed the death of Gómez, 42, of Oaxaca, Mexico, on hormone injections, KTLA5 reported.

Managers made Gómez carry on working for a week even while she spluttered, took frequent bathroom breaks and was visibly ill, the complaint said, before leaving her June 26 shift early.

Widow condemns "barbaric" death of driver beaten over masks

The wife of a French bus driver who was beaten to death after he asked four passengers to wear face masks aboard his vehicle called Saturday for “exemplary punishment” for his killers.

The assault on Philippe Monguillot has scandalized France. President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday dispatched the interior minister to meet the driver's widow after his death was announced Friday. He had been hospitalized in critical condition after the July 5 attack.

Veronique Monguillot said she told the minister, Gerald Darmanin, that she and their three daughters were “destroyed” by the attack on her husband at a bus stop in Bayonne, southwest France.

“We must bang a fist on the table, so this never happens again,” she said. “It's barbaric, not normal. We must stop this massacre."

Black Lives Matter Gets Indians Talking About Skin Lightening And Colorism

In India, colorism is rampant. Darker-skinned Indians, especially women, face discrimination at work, at school — even in love. Some arranged marriage websites let families filter out prospective brides by skin tone.

So it may be no wonder that about half of all skin care products in India, according to the World Health Organization, are lighteners designed to "brighten" or "lift" — essentially to whiten — a user's skin color. WHO estimates that such products amount to about a $500 million industry in India alone. Until recently, some of them even came with shade cards — like paint swatches — so that users could track the lightening of their skin.
