Queens boy, 10, shot dead by gunman who 'fired into house from outside during argument

'Can you imagine that, man? Three days before his birthday,' the boy’s father, Albert Wallace, who witnessed killing, told the Daily News. 'I don’t know how I’m going to deal with this .... For a driveway? You’re gonna kill my son over stupid things?'

Justin was going to turn 11 on Tuesday.

Video of the shooting released by police on Sunday begins with a dark-colored SUV that police believe is connected to the crime.

Police are looking for this vehicle, but it's unclear if the suspect drove it to the crime scene or if there was a getaway driver.

Black woman who told white neighbor to 'get out of my face' after being asked to speak more quietly

A black woman talking on the phone in her Detroit neighborhood was slapped with a $385 fine after a white neighbor called the cops on her for being too loud.

Diamond Robinson was speaking on the phone on Thursday while taking a stroll in Eastpointe when she says she was approached by a neighbor who asked her 'Do you think that you can get off your phone or talk lower?' Robinson told Fox 2 News.

Robinson wrote on Facebook that her neighbor, who she called 'Rebecca', told her that she was talking too loud while she was working from home and her boss asked her about the noise.

NYC Closing Out Its Bloodiest Year in Nearly a Decade as Killings Spike Amid Pandemic, Unrest

Heralded as the safest big city in America in recent years, New York City is closing out its bloodiest year in nearly a decade, grappling with a surge in homicides and a pandemic authorities say has helped fuel violence.

The city had recorded 447 killings as of Tuesday, a 41% increase over last year and the largest number since 2011. The number of people shot has more than doubled last year’s total, nearing a 14-year high.

Among the victims: a 1-year-old boy sitting in his stroller at a summer cookout; a 53-year-old teacher walking his dog; and a 43-year-old mother looking out the window of her child’s third-floor bedroom. All three were killed by stray bullets.

After permit approved for whites-only church, small Minnesota town insists it isn't racist

When the church doors open, only white people will be allowed inside.

That’s the message the Asatru Folk Assembly in Murdock, Minnesota, is sending after being granted a conditional use permit to open a church there and practice its pre-Christian religion that originated in northern Europe.

Despite a council vote officially approving the permit this month, residents are pushing back against the decision.

California Gay Couple’s Xmas Decorations Torn, Smeared With Feces

“They literally ripped them out of the ground, and wiped their asses with them, and carefully laid them at the base of our Pride Flag... I thought things might get stolen, but never in a million years did I think this would happen. I'm completely in shock,” he said.

Fort Lauderdale ranked least safe city in America

The Sunshine State is a bit dimmer this morning.

Fort Lauderdale, one of Florida’s biggest cities, has been declared the most unsafe in America according to a new survey from WalletHub.

The credit and consumer reports website said the preponderance of negative weather events plus rising COVID-19 cases were responsible for the city’s poor ranking, the local Sun Sentinel reported.

“Aside from the types of hazards that can cause bodily injury or other physical harm, taking out an unaffordable second mortgage, forgoing health insurance or even visiting unsecured websites are also ways people run into danger,” said WalletHub. “Some cities are simply better at protecting their residents from harm.”

Man asked to remove Halloween display deemed ‘detrimental’ to children

A councilman in the UK was asked to remove his outdoor Halloween decorations because they’re “detrimental to the mental health” of kids — and 2020 is terrifying enough.

The holiday killjoy emailed Ashan Jeeawon over the allegedly offensive display — floating skeletons, a trio of witches and an eerie green light — at his Bexhill-on-Sea home in England, Ladbible reported.

“It is my belief that the Halloween celebrations are detrimental to the mental health of many people. In particular of children and the vulnerable,” the person wrote. “There are more than enough things happening in the world to scare people without adding to it with the spectrum of ghosts and witches.

“I would respectfully ask that you take down the display as soon as possible. It is important that we promote a message of hope and not a message of fear.”

This Small Town Is Fighting Over the Usage of Pride Flags

For the past two years, rainbow banners had flown from lampposts on Main Street in the city of Heber, Utah, in celebration of Pride month. But when some residents complained that Pride and LGBTQ+ rights were political and did not represent the values or beliefs of the community, Yahoo News reports the city passed a new ordinance in August raising the costs and generally making it more difficult to continue the practice.

“It has pretty much eliminated the option of private citizens funding banners and requesting them to be hung on Main Street, unless they are able to get sponsorship from the city, the county or the chamber, and that sponsorship means some financial sponsorship,” Kelleen Potter, the mayor of Heber City and mother of two LGBTQ+ teens, explained.

The new ordinance requires any event or message promoted on the banners must be nonpolitical and not for profit. Additionally, banner applicants must first obtain sponsorship from the city of Heber, Wasatch County, or the Heber Valley Chamber of Commerce before their application will be considered by the city. In the past, residents could apply to hang banners from the city’s lampposts for a few hundred dollars as long as they were noncommercial in nature.

“As a Christian, our family believes that marriage is between a man and a woman,” one woman is quoted as saying, while others claimed the flag and, by extension, LGBTQ+ rights, were political. Potter claimed she began receiving inquiries wondering if the previous banner policy allowed banners with other allegedly similarly political messages protesting abortion or pornography or featuring symbols associated with the Ku Klux Klan or Nazis.

Gay People Do Not Have License to Weaponize Homophobic Slurs

San Francisco, it turns out, is not all flowers and gentle people. Livable California, the statewide anti-density organization with headquarters in the city, recently used a homophobic slur about my coworker and me. In a July 9 response to someone else’s tweet on the topic of housing, Isaiah Madison, a member of the board of directors of Livable California, wrote:

"I don’t get paid by Livable California Mr. Anonymous. I fucking wish I did though lol. Maybe Abundant Housing can hire me like they did the other brown &black faggots to push for new housing on vacant parcels of land/strip malls once y’all get the fuck off of my community’s homes[.]"

Marine who played wide receiver in college catches a three-year-old boy thrown from a burning building by his mother before she died in the fire

A former Marine and college wide receiver was able to catch a three-year-old boy thrown from burning building by his mother, dramatic cellphone footage shows.

Phillip Blanks, 28, ran to the home in Phoenix on July 3 barefoot after hearing calls for help and was able to save Jameson Long from the flames on the third floor balcony.

He told ABC it was all 'instinct', adding: 'There wasn't much thinking. I just reacted. I just did it.'
